Hi, folks...I'm back! :)

When I was a little kid, it was very rare to see me with one or a few of my stuffed animals (they were all pretty small, as a rule)...my Barney, my Baby Bop, my Pooh plushies, the plushie of Sneezy from "Snow White" that my aunt got for me when I was a baby. :D However (and I may have posted about this in one or two other threads), there were many other random objects I carried around with me as a little kid...here is but a partial list of those items:

- A plastic toy of Pongo from 101 Dalmatians

- A plastic yellow baby spoon

- A seashell

- A toy of Lowly Worm (the Richard Scarry character) in his apple car

- A Barbie toy I got from McDonald's (don't ask me why, I never cared for Barbies when I was a kid)

- A red rubber dinosaur

- A Minnie Mouse necklace

- A Mario toy I called "Super Mario"

- Assorted plastic Barney toys

- A dried-out lump of green Play-Doh

- A small plastic figurine of the screaming woman from Edward Munch's "The Scream" - I always called her "Ingrid." :D

...And I'm sure there were many others. I don't actually remember a lot of these objects; many I've pieced together from memories triggered by looking at photos taken during my infancy and early childhood. My mom also tells me that when she started sending me to school, and I would get anxious about what time she was coming to get me (that, and I didn't want to be at school in the first place), she drew me a picture of a wall clock with the hands indicating 3:00. She gave it to me and told me, "When you get worried during the day, just look at this clock - when the hands on this clock look like the hands on the clock at school, that's when I or daddy will come get you." I wasn't allowed to have any of my stuffed friends or special objects with me in school (Gee, wonder if that was a possible reason why I didn't like it much?), so I held onto that clock drawing the way I would one of my security items. I can't remember if I understood the concept behind the clock drawing; but in all likelihood, I probably would have freaked out if I lost it, or if it got worn out or thrown away.

Did anyone else ever carry around "strange," "random," or "unusual" items with them when they were young - or still do? Heck, I still carry a bunch of my "little friends" around with me....and how many "little friends" I have with me directly depends on how scary or anixety-provoking I anticipate a given situation will be.

Well, I definitely don't carry around little trinkets like you do, but I do have a particularly strong attachment to an Arizona Cardinals hat that I own. I like it so much that I very rarely if ever go outside without wearing it if I can help it. That kind of thing is actually pretty common though...

I've always had a fascination with writing implements... It's not so much that I've carried the same ones, but I really enjoy accruing them. This always pissed people off as I used to "permanently borrow" their pens all the time.
Now, I always carry the same 3 writing implements in my left pocket all the time (red papermate, black papermate and a highlighter (usually pink, but not always). Sometime's all add a pencil to the mix, just to spice things up!

I have a dodecahedron and an icosahedron (used for D&D or something similar - never played it) that I have had in my pencilhouse for more than 20 years.

I've never really considered it, but my mom says I found a stray sock at the laundromat once and carried/kept it around for a long time. In school, I had some fuzzy cat toys that looked like mice; I kept them in my pencil box and discreetly petted them throughout the day. In elementary school, I had a lizard brooch or pin that I wore daily for years (it was huge and gaudy and people made fun of me). I had a special attachment to it, and staring at all the tiny rhinestones calmed me. It was lost at some point; I still get a little emotional when I think about it.

As a very small child I had a towel that I was very fond of. It was purple. I'd drape it on my head and pretend that it was long hair.

Once I learned to read, I would always carry around at least one book. It's something I continue to do almost all the time to the this day.

When I was a child, I would carry the wheels (with axles attached) of matchbox cars that I had broken. I also used to carry around 'D' size batteries. My father had a fuzzy blanket with a koala on it that I would flip over, put over my head as though I were in a tent, and play under (I would imagine that I was in the Australian outback).

I take a messenger bag with me when I go anywhere, and it always contains:

8 PCMCIA cards (my current laptop has a PC card slot, but these stay there even if I take my tablet instead. I haven't needed to use them in years...)
3 red pens
2 black pens
2 highlighters: one blue, one yellow
2 permanent markers: one red, one black
2 three prong adapters for two prong AC power sockets
1 AT -> PS/2 keyboard adapter
1 pocket precision screwdriver with pen clip
1 mechanical pencil
1 pen light
1 magnifying glass
Binder clips! I typically have at least one binder clip with me. I like pinching my hands with them.

Not much in the way of trinkets, as I dislike having my pockets weighed down, but in service of the question, I guess I'd say my car keys. I have an awful habit of forgetting my keys in the ignition. I usually hold them in my hand while getting out of my car, and continue holding them until I'm half way to wherever I'm going.

Some years ago I always carried a Rubik's Cube around with me. Or several including larger cubes like the 5x5x5. Though at that time it was very popular in my school and many others did the same. I was more into it than most others though and I remember someone finding it weird I kept playing it alone in classrooms as the fad was ending.

I can't really think of much I carry with me other than stuff I use at work like inserts, lock bolts, tool holders and hex wrenches.

Up to the age of 6 it would be long-legged teddy bear or a huge toy truck I had.
From 6 to about 8, my plushy seal would accompany me everywhere but to school.

Now the thing I always carry around with me is my inhaler.

I have a small plastic stone with a stylized green wing and the word 'faith' in it that I carry around all the time. I'm not very religious like this would suggest but something about the smooth texture of the plastic and the color of the design helps calm me down when I play with it.

When I was really little I used to carry around a Barney pillowcase all the time. This I don't have any memories of I'm just going off of stories. From that it was this blue baby blanket. This I can remember this so it must have been when I was around 4 or so. After that I always had one of my many beanie babies. I carried at least one of them around in my backpack to school so I had it to play with on the playground or if I got upset. Until a bully stole one of them from me and tore the tags off that is. After that I started leaving them at home to keep them safe.

Right now I have an old Pokémon Pikachu 2 GS (sort of like the original Pkmn Gold/Silver's version of the PokéWalker) that I like to carry around with me on my belt/pants a lot. I have a rabbit doll that I think I used to carry a fair bit around the house.
