As people with ASDs a lot of us like to follow certain routines and enjoy structure. What are your routines?

I myself don't really have much in the way of routine, so to speak. In fact, I'm an all-over-the-place sort of guy, which really is a pain in the bum as it makes me so disorganised. I think my ADHD is stronger than my Aspergers in that respect.

Mine has less to do with what I do and more to do with how I do them.
For example: I always wear a watch on my right wrist and a rubber wrist band (for Autism Awareness) on my left. I like to keep my wallet in my right pocket and three writing utensils (black bic, red bic, highlighter) in my left (sometimes I'll add a pencil). My clothes (except for underwear and only sometimes including socks) are all arranged into specific outfits that I always wear together.
If I'm feeling really off one day, I'll check these things first to make sure they're in order. I have some OCD mixed in with the AS...

Hmm, I never thought of how things are done as being routine. I nearly always keep my wallet in my right pocket, same as you, and my phone and keys in my left. Things don't feel quite right if they're not there. Come to think of it, I do tend to eat a plate of food in a certain way: start with the least tasty food item and finish with the tastiest.

Me, too. I always keep my keys and cards in my right pocket and my mobile in my left. In this way I never lose them.

I never go out once I have a shower. For me, having a shower means that I'm staying home. If I'm going out, I will not have a shower before that. I'm very strict on that. I'd rather stink at work (although I don't) than at home.

I have loads of routines/rituals (not sure if they've got anything to do with ASD). Here are a few examples:

- I always sit in the same seat at lectures (and I get there about 20 minutes before the lecture starts to make sure I get "my" seat).
- I have morning and evening routines I do the same way every day.
- I always put my clothes on in the same order.
- I always wear black jeans (except for when going to bed and when at weddings/funerals when I have to wear dresses, which I don't really like).
- I always leave for the bus 15 minutes before I have to be at the bus stop.
- I always count steps when walking up and down stairs.
- I always shake the juice bottle 10 times before pouring juice into my glass (and I use the same glass every day).
- I always buy the same bread (I, in fact, rarely try new things).
- I plan everything in advance. At least one day in advance. There are a few exceptions but they're very rare.
- Just like you I always keep my phone in my left pocket. I keep my bus card in my right pocket and my keys in a certain place in my backpack, which I always bring when going somewhere.

Etc.
