People can be seriously delusional... there aren't many acceptable delusions in society apart from religion, but I think I decided to include sports maniacs within the group, and any 'fans' who think that just because they like watching others kicking a ball everyone else must do, and so, as I was just casually listening to the usual debates on radio 4, stupid Nick Robinson just replayed the infuriating 5 Live constant screaming... it took me a decade to realize the latter station even had anything interesting other than sh***y shouters, because people can be so stupid and selfish that they'd rather repeat nonsense screaming than a useful discussion on finances or consumer affairs.

Screaming doesn't exist in the context of "fun" for me. In the rare case that I scream it's due to an extreme frustration leak. Something went wrong. Conversely, I've seen (and you probably have too) men & women happily shout at a TV when sports are playing... otherwise well-adjusted, domesticated adults.

People who yell at the TV during sports games are on my imaginary hit-list. I find sports pointless and boring, especially when all you're doing is watching and not even playing. I get startled and my sensory system gets scrambled every time someone yells unexpectedly at some thing some guy on some field did with a ball. I've been dragged to a few restaurants by my parents that had a sports bar inside, and been lambasted by a bunch of drunk men screaming at the TV at random intervals, scaring the **** out of me. I can't stand it.

I'm not a sports fan. I particularly hate football because commentators on TV shout and scream so much. One on one sports tend to be more sedate, like tennis, golf and snooker... I can "watch" them sometimes... let it wash over me.

No, in response to the question in the thread title, but for me it is a very therapeutic way of dealing with stress and frustration. I only do it in places where it won't upset other people.
