I was looking around the web, and while I *thought* I once read a summary of the history of the "Aspergia" (also referred to as "Aspiergian Island") website, I haven't been able to locate any such document.

If there isn't a written history, does anyone know when the website was founded at least?

For those who might not be aware of the website, Aspergia (the site) was the Aspie social message board before such a term was commonly used, and was in some respects a forerunner of WP.

Palpatine, here is a brief history of AS:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of ... r_syndrome

Though AS has undoubtedly been around for centuries, if not longer, writing any history is problematic for several reasons: First, Hans Asperger was the first person to recognize this condition back around WWII, and few were diagnosed until about twenty years ago, when it became enshrined in the DSM. Therefore, writing about people with AS before about twenty years ago is speculation, as we can't be sure whether they actually had this disorder or not.

Second, as far as history goes, real history can't begin to be written until around 75 years after the fact--when the main participants in that history have died off. For example, though there are countless books on WWII right now, the real history of this war is only beginning to be written.

The Internet Archive Wayback Machine when you search for an old website.
Maybe you can find there what you are looking for.
