difference between what docs and laypeople see?
I am a person that possibly has ADHD and AS, and I used to have a diagnosis of ADHD.
Anyway I see a difference in what laypeople qnd doctors see. I get multiple comments I act like I have ADHD from people I know, but mental health people tend to think I have AS (though this has never made it to a dx).
Im guessing it is because ADHD is known more to laypeople, what do you think?

it might be that those individual mental health specialists have the same sort of experience levels/thought process going on,its likely got nothing to do with the fact its a mental health specialist vs general public.
the general public at large are pretty damn useless at spotting the entire autism spectrum or ADHD/ADD unless they have direct/indirect experience of it.
the mental health profession often in many individual situations think theyre the most knowledgeable;even above peoples own learning of themselves and woe betide any tom, dick or harry starts checking out the conditions on wikipedia; their records will be tagged with hypocondriac or munchausens before they know it....assuming have got one of the narcisist doctors of course theyre not all like that.
the problem the general public have is they have a very skewed yard stick for which to compare their BS stereotyped idea of neurology; lets call it normieland vs freaksville.
the more people that live around or work with from the highest, most challenging point of freaksville, the less chance they will be able to understand and recognise a fellows differences/difficulties from further down freaksville, and normieland? well may as well be another planet to inhabitants of freaksvile.
its a huge issue in the care industry, with so many care workers and specialists thinking a person has no issues, because all they have ever worked with is the profoundly affected, rather than severely/moderately/mildly/borderline,however there are staff who have only ever worked with people in the mild and moderate areas and sht bricks when they come and meet some of us;their behavior is to ignore us as functioning adults and talk around us,whilst refering to us as burdens on society, fellow residents and parents-as if we cant f*****g hear!! unless the winterbourne scandal has weeded out these godawful prehistoric stains,am still on the pesamistic side of this one,we need to rid everywhere of oldskool staffing or get them off their arses and onto the many courses available.
specialists and the general public may have biases towards seeing specific conditions, theyre all from the same mould of flesh and are not invincible to having weaknesses, faults etc.
go and see a ASD specialist, someone who is familiar with working with the age group are in,they shoud work on the adhd as the next thing, because in many cases it is actualy the executive dysfunction from ASD that gets us labeled with ADHD; executive dysfunction is the core of ADHD and is a big part of autism for many, from own experience had been diagnosed with severe combined ADHD years ago but finaly got it removed after specialists began to understand more about executive dsyfunction in autism and realised that it had been the central cause [in mine anyway].

ADHD makes a bigger impression on most people.
You see some sort of ADHD incident and you can be pretty sure it is ADHD.
With aspergers however it is a bit more complicated:
-Maybe this person did x because they were having a bad day
-Not everyone pays attention to everything you do so they may be missing some key factors
With doctors you are telling them your experiences and it they are unlikelier to stop paying attention to you
Thats how I see it
