Facebook has just as many complicated social rules as real life. I think it's even harder to know when not to interrupt, for example.

I actually like Facebook. But if chatting with people you don't know well and aren't to sure if someone is being sarcastic I could see some problems. For instance no one takes anything I post of Facebook serious because generally I'm either being sarcastic or just posting something funny. Just be careful on who's statuses you comment on. If you don't talk to them in real life it would be odd if you commented on their status for some people. (I'm the type of person who doesn't care).

Yeah some people take their Facebook statuses way too seriously.

I like it.
It's generally considered acceptable to not pick up on sarcasm online, because you can't hear a person's tone of voice or see their body language.

I've never had any trouble with Facebook. I like it. I don't really use chat though.

I think whether Facebook is good for you depends on who you have listed as friends. So for one person it might be great, but for another it might be as or more frustrating than face to face interaction.

My problem is the same with all online social media, people.

I hear it can be good for Aspies, but personally, most 'social' media doesn't appeal to me for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is because it feels like there's less focus on meeting people and conversing and more focus on... something else, depending on the site. I'd much prefer an extended conversation over IM or a forum. (For some reason, not so much email, though.)

The focus is mostly on ME, not on mutual conversation. lots of bitching and random inside jokes nobody else gets unless they were there

The feeling I get often is I must be missing part of the story, like part of a conversation takes place off FB then the rest on however i'm never entirely sure. I like to use it to keep up with long distance friends however some of the more personal stuff they post i'd rather not know about, I dislike the all or nothing way of FB as I can never get used or enjoy watching someones private drama play out in front of me. I have also had issues reading between the lines of depressive posts and sensing their severity, if it were up to me a couple of my friends would have spent time on suicide watch based on what they post and perhaps more so what my confused yet very concerned brain reads into them, again its better to not know sometimes. I also often get confused between someone jokeing and a serious post. People very often post garbage to draw attention to themselves yet I can't often see that and read and sometimes anwser or react seriously to the post. Then again most of this can happen to me in some form in real life social interactions aswell.

Facebook has its perposes, for me its keeping up wih some long distance friends/relitives as well as certin orginizations news feeds. I don't post much with substance as I tend to be a more private person on FB and I don't really understand its privacy setting and how they work very well.

I'm indifferent.

I have an account on facebook but I hardly ever chat with people or post things on fb.
I only use it when I must contact people for an important reason.

My social life is mostly limited to facebook. :?
At times it is great, at times it is horrible, especially when people get mad for no obvious reason!

Same with Twitter. I mean no harm, unless angry, and I'll at least tell you I'm angry.

Facebook did not work well for me, but I can definitely see how for other Aspies it could be an enjoyable source of social interaction without the nonverbal confusion of face/face.

Sarcasm: I appreciate when people remember to use a 'tongue-in-cheek" emoticon, such as :P . It helps me to better understand their true intent, whether it is being sarcastic or facetious.

Not that I would eeeever be sarcastic or facetious :P
