I am shocked at the amount of people are are so misinformed about the lack of eye contact. People with forms of Autism are discriminated against on a regular basis and it really makes me mad because the have lack of eye contact. I really hate when people stare me down I think it is so rude. I even heard a Pastor at the church include in his sermon how people need to make direct eye contact. Don't they understand that some people just can't. Americans have this idea that if are not making eye contact, that you are a liar. Personally, I have been told many times that people don't trust me and I have been told right to my face that people do not believe me. I have even lost jobs because of it. It is so horrible, I can't believe that people are uninformed. We really don't have a chance at trying to make it.

Agreed. People are so quick to imagine that others are lying to them; lack of eye contact and nervousness are two things they point to. You can tell people the exact truth and have them believe anything but what you say, and when they find out what you said was the truth they still treat you like you deceived them somehow.
