Is it just me or is sleeping in the same room with other people exceptionally difficult?

I mean, I can hear my brother smacking his lips on the other side of the room and I can hear my father's girlfriend tossing and turning in her sleep. The temperature in the room rises and I can smell everyone.

My dad is taking me on a trip for the long weekend in the RV and this is all I can think about. Just thinking about it is enough to make me feel anxious and sick.

Sleeping in the same room is mainly just distracting.
Sleeping in the same bed is even worse cause you gotta be more careful how you move... and there's also this epic fight for the bed sheet going on, lol... I don't understand how married couples can sleep in the same bed permanently...

Yes I find it extremely distracting and find it hard to sleep in the same room, never mind the same bed.

I'd say it mainly depends on whether you're comfortable with the people and how sensitive to sound you are. I have no problem sleeping with a girl next to me, but relatives in my room usually results in very little sleep.

I briefly shared a room with my brother as a child, whilst the house I was growing up with was renovated.
I struggled to sleep, due to his noise, smell, and other distractions.
Since reaching adulthood, I have found I can only tolerate sleeping in the same room with someone if I am in a committed relationship with them.
I would not be able to tolerate a housemate or guest sleeping in the same room (presuming there was room for two beds).
As a teenager I went on a two week trip where we slept in tents in each night.
I shared the tent with two friends.
By midway through the trip I was sick of my friends, and never wanted to speak to them again.
It was nothing they were doing intentionally, just that they were noisy sleepers, and messy the way they kept the tent.
I never go camping anymore.
What's more, I can barely sleep if I stay in a hotel or motel, the noise of other guests prevents me from sleeping, even if it's just doors closing, people talking, or the sound of TVs.
Instead I have found I can tolerate guest houses, as you do not have anyone nearby "contaminating you" with their noise.

if i'm tired enough, I can and indeed have slept through earthquakes with things falling about me. but snoring awakens me, whether I do it or other people do it.

autism or not its difficult for anyone to sleep in a room and bed theyre not regulary used to and have other people in the room, although they dont have other people in the room, the sleep in support staff here always say they get very little sleep because theyre not used to it.
autism just makes the issues stronger.

most people struggle to sleep during hot nights as well from what have seen, we have several nigerian staff here who are heat mad and cannot stand the cold but keep it hot and humid at night and they wont sleep and get pissed off with everyone.

try bringing some good ear plugs and anything that might make the bed area more like bedroom at home, such as the same quilt are used to.
if he snores, throw something like a cushion at him,or have some fun and use a marker pen to draw on his face-if have got to be awake; may as well have a reason,at least am the type who does that sort of sht whilst laughing away to self anyway. :P

am not able to stay anywhere that is not in regular routine, have got to have long transitions, visits,a private bedroom and PECS schedules of the route we will be walking to it,and drag most of bedroom along in bin bags whenever am in hospital inpatients for teeth or EEG check ups, dont understand how anyone can go in unusual/new environments and enjoy it. :?

I'm lucky that nobody really snores in my house...

...unless I do and I just don't know it.

If they did I would be out of luck though because earplugs give me sensory issues. They feel like worms crawling in my ears and it freaks me out.

Get good and drunk. You'll never even notice that they're there. :drunken:

I have such a hard time getting drunk, and I don't enjoy it when I am, ha.

I don't know how people can consume so much drink. I mean, I drink a beer or two and I'm done, I'm not thirsty anymore.

It's very difficult for me as well. I'm a VERY light sleeper and the sounds of people breathing wake me up. I've taken Benadryl every night for many years now. It's the only way I can get some sleep.

Booze is a great way to temporarily relieve all the hypersensitivity. I love it. lol

I used to have a very difficult time with it. Mainly it had to do with breathing. I had a really hard time breathing when my breath was out of sync with my roommate... I use headphones to listen to white noise or music now. I do much better with that now.
