What AS/ASD or NT traits are you most jealous of?

And I don't mean maliciously jealous, just wish you had what they had.

Please answer based on your neurology! :)

I'm most envious of people who can read social cues. I just feel so left out all the time - like everyone else got told a secret and not me.

Social ease.

I am so jealous of the way other people - my colleagues, fellow students, other parents - just manage to talk to each other. My wife has amiable chats with shop-keepers who she has never met, and I find that almost impossible. When I try to do this it usually goes wrong, and they stare at me like I said something really offensive.

I wish I had the Aspie ability to focus. I feel so scattered so much of the time.

I am jealous of most NTs, for taking social cues for granted, and having their social cues almost as natural as breathing. I know everybody has to make a little effort, but it's more natural for them than it is for me. I know some of my social cues are natural, but I wish I just had the same average social cues as other people.

I also get jealous of people who don't get as startled by loud noise as I do. I know everybody jumps at loud noise at times, but mine is an extreme issue that takes over my life. But my fear of loud sudden noise is like trying to explain the colour blue - it is impossible to explain to someone who doesn't have the same problem, and just ignoring the loud noise is not as easy as it sounds.

And I get jealous of people who don't have severe obsessions that take over their mind and their life. It makes you feel worse when you get an obsession over certain people, especially if they are NTs - and if they are the opposite sex too.

I'm jealous of people who don't take things to heart.

I'm not envious or jealous of any NT traits because I'm happy with the way I am. My AS/ASD traits make me who I am. :coffee: :study:

I am a bit jealous of people who can keep a conversation going, like it's the most natural thing in the world.

I also wish I was better at maths, like alot of Aspies seem to be.

I'd take the NT ability of good executive functioning, as not being distracted in conversation. At times( many?) I see mouths chopping and hear their voices, but no listeny on my end.

I wish I could just completely squelch the extraneous thoughts and focus.

I think many of the social traits of NTs can be learned. It requires research and practice, two things that Aspergians do well.

Some people can do it better than others. Not all NTs are good at it either.

Oh, I didn't read the full question. I suppose executive function would be nice sometimes.

I am jealous of math ability. I know this isn't an autistic ability per se and many autistic people don't have it. However, the ones who do are just so staggeringly good at math and I would love to experience that. Sometimes I wander into the Computer/Technology subforum just to see people slinging equations at each other. I wish I could do that.
