I pull instead of push. Pretty much always.

Like, for example, I can't use a push broom. Have never been able to get my body to perform those mechanics. The only way I can sweep is to use a regular broom, pull the debris toward me and sweep it into a dustpan, and I have been chewed out at work for "doing it wrong" but it's the only way I can do it. There are a lot of other things that are like that for me. I am thinking this is connected to my diagnosed, autism-related dyspraxia but is it or am I just awkward?

I've been harassed for similar things a million times. Some people just get their knickers in a twist if you don't do things exactly the way they do them, which is stupid, because sometimes an alternate method may actually work better and more efficiently for others. As long as the job gets done thoroughly in a reasonable time frame, its not worth chewing somebody out over it.

I don't tie my laces like most people do. I learned my own way. It works for me. Only got comments on it when I was a kid when tying shoe laces was the big thing to learn.

Actually f**k that, I'm going to try and see if I can learn the "normal" way tonight. I'm sick of this abnormal shoe tying thing.

Ok, that was easy. 30 years of feeling ashamed resolved in a couple minutes. I feel kinda stupid, but kinda more smart now.

believe it or not theres a right way to use a push broom and about 100 wrong ways. if you use it the right way it works really well. I spent almost a month with my uncle getting on me about how I used a push broom. you want the bristles to be straight up and down without much pressure. if you put to much pressure the bristles will flick the dirt all over the place. also when you complete a push tap the broom on the ground to release all the trapped dirt

I never knew that and I am glad to know it. Apparently there is a right way to mop too with one of those long hair kind of mops. I heard about it from someone who had been in the Navy. I forget how to do it exactly but apparently it works really well.

I use what works.

Seriously, some brooms work better pulling than pushing. A proper broom should work both ways.
