Hello,

I'm a diagnosed Aspie and OCD-sufferer. I've basically always have not brushed my teeth/flossed regularly. I'd say I do it maybe once every two weeks at best. Also, as of late (maybe a few weeks), I take baths very infrequently...perhaps once per week at best. What I want to know is if my poor hygiene is related to my illnesses or have to do with laziness etc?

Thanks in advance

I don't brush either.

The thought rarely occurs to me.

I end up brushing when I notice a foul taste; my sense of smell is very muted, so..

I shower and stuff because I ACN'T stand feeling dirty.

I'm not sure if I dont brush because I hate the sensation, I forget, or laziness. >>;;

I brush when I get up, before bed and every time in between that I eat something; can't stand feeling that my mouth, tongue or breath are foul, or that there's debris in my teeth.

Shower twice a day, once when I get up, then later in the evening, after I work out. Hate the feeling of being greasy or dirty.

As much as people on WP complain about not being able to get dates and establish relationships, you'd think they'd be meticulous about at least looking nice and smelling clean. It could only help.

the longest I've gone sans bath was one week, that was as long as I could stand being rank and greasy. I figured nobody else cared so why should I?

I've read it's because of executive dysfunction.

I don't bathe as often as society tells you that you are supposed to either. It's hard to remember and to actually do it all the time, plus it doesn't really seem necessary. Plus society's hygiene standard these days is excessive, especially for hair washing. Not everyone needs to wash their hair every day. It's bad for your hair and strips the natural oils out.

if I don't wash my hair every day, it becomes stringy.

When I was reading about the no poo washing method I saw a lot of people saying that they have to wash their hair every day or it gets very oily. I'm the opposite. I have very dry hair and scalp and if I waited for my hair to get oily to wash it I'd almost never wash it.

be thankful for non-oily skin and scalp. I sweat mainly oily salty sweat.

It's got nothing to do with your illness. I'm very hygienic, I shower everyday aswell as brush my teeth.

The only thing I remember to do on a regular basis is brushing my teeth.
If I don't brush them I can feel my teeth hurt.
As a kid I didn't brush my teeth regularly though. I sarted doing it when I was 14.

I wash my hands a lot after I've touched something because I know that things (expecially those outside of my house) are covered with germs and if I don't wash my hands I feel like my hands are on fire.
I wasn't like this as a kid though. I often forgot to wash my hands.

As for taking baths and washing my hair, I don't do it every day.
I have greasy hair, therefore I should, but I can't bring myself to do it every day.
I often get distracted and my time is never enough to allow me to have a bath/wash my hair every day.

I usually take a bath or wash my hair once or twice a week.

I don't like having a shower and brushing the teeth, but I do them every day any way. Particularly I'm really scared of the dental treatment cost if I get any problem. That motivates me to brush and floss the teeth regularly. I also don't like the sticky feeling on the skin after coming home from work etc. So I usually have a shower then. If I'm going out, I don't really care about being sticky and/or stinky (I don't really easily become stinky).

I like to be clean also. I brush my teeth at least twice a day and floss very night. I had to have emergency surgery once and they were trying to rush me to the operating room and I was upset because they would not let me brush my teeth first.

I shower often as well. I don't wash my hair every day though. I wash it once or twice a week but it is not oily. If I work out and sweat a lot than I wash it more often. Sometimes in the summer I take two showers a day but usually one a day. Every now and then I might skip one if I am too tired. I wash my hands a lot too.

Even though I have greasy hair, I was lucky and I found a remedy for it.
I use nettle shampoo for it now.

It makes my hair quite dry and it stays like that for more than 10 days.

When I used other shampoos they were greasy again after 2 or 3 days

Taking 5 minutes a day to brush your teeth must surely be a low price to pay compared to paying the dentist when your teeth go bad?

I try to brush my teeth twice a day, but I sometimes forget in the morning.

Sometimes I brush after eating, but I have been told that I shouldn't brush more than two times a day.

And I do need to bath and wash my hair everyday.

If something disrupts my routine, I can forget everything.

I shower as part of my waking process on work days, but sometimes go as long as four days without showering if I am on vacation.

I frequently forget to brush my teeth. I keep listerine strips in my bag and have a toothbrush at my desk just in case...

My wife is helpful in reminding me, something I am very appreciative of.
