The only person in college I knew that had autism (the the assistant to the residents hall director told me) seem very strange and my guess you might be in for abit a shock if you meet very many aspies brothers :D I gotta long fine with the guy but I doubt I would drive to Boston to see him :D His room at college was
loaded with books so many he was kicked out of the hall for causing a fire hazard! I kid you not me and my roommate help him load his books in a large rental truck with a wheel barrel!! !! !! He had a massive collection of classic music on vinyl disks.
I told him I liked Wagner and he did also. Anyway he had a montonious voice and I remember we hung out alot before meals at the halls (on week ends). Oh this was
all 15 years ago I first made the connection I might be like that guy 6 months ago.

MAN, I used to read a LOT!! !! !! I would get up, get ready for school, READ, write some plans/schematics, go to school(Where I tried to think of things to do and add to the schematics), I came home worked with some electronics, read myself to sleep!

Anyway, the last 2 times I moved I threw away a lot of books!! !! ! WHY???? because there were too many boxes to move. I'm talking about over a dozen boxes that were big enough to hold over a dozen reams of letter size paper. Right now I only have perhaps 6 boxes like that after filling 2 large bookcases(1 in my dining room, and one in a little library room), and 3 small ones(1 in the living room, and 2 in my bedroom).

BTW the books are about 99% english with the rest split between german, french and danish, but that doesn't include books to learn languages(Spanish, German, Danish, French, Hindi, Italian, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Etc...). The subjects cover a LOT! Physiology, psychology, nutrition, electronics, mechanics, computers, languages, general science, religion(They are in one box downstairs), lasers, myth, non fiction, fiction, etc....

SO, I guess I can understand that.

I ALSO don't think I have heard any person speak in monotone yet. I assume that is due to a perception problem.

BTW just so you know, I am not going there to meet people. I will just happen to be there and would LIKE to meet others.

And HEY, I WOULD like to think of other autistics ESPECIALLY the higher functioning ones, as a kind of extended family. Given the apparant genetic link, we probably are.

Well, I live about 40 miles away from downtown Boston. If you get a group together, great, I'll meet up with you. If not, I'll still make my way into the city for a drink or lunch with you sometime.

HEY, THANKS GUYS!

Prescott,

I should be there in a couple weeks. Hopefully we can get a little meeting going. is revere closer or farther from you? It doesn't matter to me, I'll get a car if need be, I may have to anyway.

Alex,

THANKS! I checked him out. Who knows, maybe we can figure out a way I can help, as well, besides just giving money.

And HEY, there IS still a chance I'll be in DC within the next 2-3 years! 8-) I've been there 4 times(About a year each time) already. I even still have my WMATA card with like $30 on it. :?

Heh. Reveah! Wow, what the hell are you doing in Revere? It's farther, but not by anything too significant. Revere is, well, it's something. Make sure you hit Kelly's Roast Beef at least once so you can soak in some true Revere culture.

As for a car; it depends on where you are. If you only need access to downtown Boston, you may have subway/bus access. But you might need a car if you aren't right along the blue line. PM me if you have any questions.

I didn't expect THAT kind of response. WHAT, is it that good or bad? That is actually where I stayed for my interview. Is bedford closer to you. I meant to say bedford earlier, but getting a straight answer was a chore, and I am still trying to get use to gmail. Bedford is actually where I will be working.

It is where my new contract is.

WHOA!

We might actually get something going! I probaby should have asked what kind of food everyone likes also. It would be nice if we could all meet at once.

I AM planning on being there a long time though. My goal is to try and handle my job more like I would have as a kid. It's a pity I can't be as blunt as I used to be, like telling my boss he is FAR too loquacious. If I was, I wouldn't last a day. 8-( If it works out, maybe I CAN get the job I wanted. 8-)

Well, I'm in the area. Does anyone have any good ideas for lunch or dinner that they would want to go to? It turns out I will generally be closer to lexington, but I AM willing to go elsewhere later and on the weekends. Tomorrow(sunday) I will be in the area, as well as next week. After the following weekend I plan to be here for 2 more weeks, and repeat. I just want to meet some people, find out what others are like, and maybe make some friends.

I WOULD have posted earlier but between the cold, and some logistics problems, I thought it might be problematic. For the next 10 days the lows are supposed to be 11-25F! YEAH! It WAS in the single digits for a while.

Hi Steve-
Yeah, it's been a mild winter here up until last week.
Busy tomorrow, heading to the North Shore for the day.
Next week/weekend?

I work in Burlington, near Bedford. I'd be interested.
