(I can't remember if I've posted this already or not)

I have / had multiple symptoms of syndromes / illnesses (AS is not an illness) which relate to my brain:

1. Born 60% deaf yet now I have hyperacute hearing.
2. Severe (as classified by psychiatrist) Asperger's syndrome.
3. Visual processing disorder and other sight problems that necessitate wearing glasses all day, and I also have orange-lensed glasses when I need them.
4. Mental illnesses (somewhat refractory schizophrenia, OCD, mood swings).
5. Chronic migraines.
6. Partial seizure symptoms.
7. Thermoregulatory dysfunction.
8. Sensory integration problems.
9. Severe behavioural problems as a child - probably repeated meltdowns. I still have regular meltdowns.
10. Communication disability.

My question is: do you think that all of these illnesses / syndromes come from the same source? I was born premature and very underweight (even for my prematurity, I was underweight), and my mum has an eating disorder, which I am sure affected me while I was in her womb. Also I've been through emotional and physical abuse from my mum as she became an alcoholic.

Ideas? I'm just wondering.

Just out of curiosity, when did your mom start drinking?

Because if she drank during pregnancy, you might have FASD.

However, most of what you have could just be AS.

To be honest I am not entirely sure when she started drinking. She said she didn't drink any alcohol when she was having me, but she often lies to me, so I'm not sure.

It really all could be related to your AS, it is known that aspies have badly miss-wired brains. This alone could explain much of your issues.

Don't listen to any of that criticism doctors tell you.

One of the pastors at my church said that doctors only tell you about "the bad" rather than "the potential"

There is nothing wrong with you. God made you that way for a reason and you need to be an advocate for yourself.

To my understanding, most of the symptoms you mentioned (except for the deafness) are commonly comorbid (associated) with Autism spectrum disorder.

Thanks for clarifying. Looks like the mis-wiring in my brain is the reason. Oh well it makes me unique.

I don't believe in God. I am a strict atheist.

Believe in yourself and you'll get where you're going, eventually.
