Autism isn't a tangible disease in the same way that, say, lung cancer is. It doesn't directly kill you, but the symptoms of it result in a lot of things that tend to be associated with decreased longevity.
Agree that this is probably true. It is stressful on many levels being a small minority, alien or however you want to view it.
