When I'm walking down the street it bothers me when I can't see someone, so I often let them pass through.

Does anyone else do the same or it's just me?

as I just read your post, I shuddered and muttered out loud ... "oh I hate that..." so I have to say, you definitely are not alone in that, and I even do it in a car if someone is following me too closely and for too long... UGH I really do hate that.

Yup, I do the exact same thing. It started as a quirk I have, but since I'm a single woman traveling (mostly walking) in a large city, it does make sense. Also, I think it gives me a sense of control.

I do not like being followed either-I also hate being watched while I am doing something too.

I get sort of nervous when people walk behind me, too...I'm never sure if they want me to let them by and they just aren't telling me, and if they walk too close behind me, I feel like I'm being stalked....sheesh. When I took the Aspie Quiz for the first time, and they ask you if you feel uncomfortable when people walk behind you, I checked "no" cuz I'd never even thought about that....after thinking about it some, though, I began to realize that yeah, it does kinda bother me.

It's just a part of self-defense awareness. Once you've been sucker-punched or otherwise assaulted out of the blue, you start minding the distance between yourself and passers-by.

Yes! It bothers me so much that my pace is practically a jog. I have very long legs, so that helps me maintain the faster pace. It's motivated by two things: Me not liking people being behind me, and not liking to waste time walking between places.

I don't even like it when I'm at work and I know I'm safe (in the corridors) with people I know.

Yes. I like to be able to see everyone who can see me.

Yeah, it sets off my "kill them before they kill me" instincts. Luckily for everyone else, I just get twitchy rather than murdering people.

I don't like it. On the other hand, I do enjoy screwing with people who think I'm following them.

I'd rather be behind someone if I'm not leading them somewhere (showing them the way to go). But if I need to show someone where to go by leading them, then I WANT to be in front of them.

This is normal. Ever wonder why so many NTs get robbed, raped, or stolen from? It is a terrible idea to let someone walk behind you, only a total idiot would let someone do it. Luckily we have better survival instincts.

I like to take a walk in the park along the river path and I am always watching my surrounding for other people. I like to be able to stim and talk to myself while walking. Runners, joggers and people walking towards me in the opposite direction don't bother me so much since they will pass by fairly quickly but people walking in the same direction as I and enter in to my bubblespace. It gets very annoying because if they are not walking any faster or slower then I. They will be in my space for a long time and that just drives me f**king crazy.
