Let's say for example for this thread. There is a certain nineteen year old and twenty two year old. One is a painter, the other a writer. Who like to also dabble in the art of sophisticated roleplays. They will draw pictures of the characters, create complicated stories, and like to create musical playlist. Roleplaying or acting out their stories as if they were movies.

Are they to old? Should they no longer indulge in said activity?

The meta-question is "Do 'we' have the right to dictate what two consenting adult do for fun?"

I say leave them alone.

IMHO they are the ones who will judge when they are too old, by putting aside the said activity. It's not really anyone else's business.

One word: cosplay.

I mean okay here is one of their stories:

Clones. Now they aren't clones of other creatures. Instead Clones are the name of these super soldiers they created to fight wars for humanity. They are called Clones because all their DNA was made genetically. It's about the freedom of the clones and they fight invisible enemies and create complicated plots. And have anime style background music, etc.

They are brothers. In said example. So they aren't doing that.

The situation is obvious, but any alleged problem is not.

They're doing nothing wrong / unethical / illegal / immoral.

Leave them be.

Is there a particular reason why they are doing it?

What would make them continue something most people would stop after childhood?

Well, we could all speculate, but only the two people in question would be able to give definitive answers about why they do it and what they get out of it. Why don't you ask them?

And FWIW I have heard of far weirder behaviour in far older people.

The answer to both is, "Because it's fun".

Does it bother you that other people might be having fun?

Do you think that there is a specific age when people should stop having fun?

How about they like it because they like to be creative?

But I mean they draw and write. Why must they renact their scenarios?

That's a bit like asking why a playwright should demand to see his or her script enacted on a stage, don't you think? After all, all the serious imaginative work has already been undertaken ...

I still think you're asking questions that would be more purposefully addressed to the two young people in question.

Most of the best LARPers and tabletop RPers are older and more experienced.

Hell, if my life wasn't is such a state of flux right now, I'd be trying to find a LARP or tabletop game to play in, and I'm 34.

Throughout my life, I often have had a hankering to join a historical re-enactment society. Mainly because I fancy myself in armour, but also because it strikes me as good and imaginative fun. So shoot me.

I would have no problems dressing in a green army uniform, picking up a plastic AK-47 and pretending I'm fighting in a war.
I happen to like the military and FPS.

You don't want to take being an adult too seriously. It is incredibly dull.

More and more it seems to me that adults want to feel more like children. The people I know drink alcohol, take drugs and just have fun with each other. Even dancing around on a stage with a musical instrument is a form of play.
