I'm curious to know. What exactly are stimming behaviors besides rocking and hand flapping? I'm just checking if I stim too. I never rocked or flap my hands or anything.

 That's funny. Okay I think I stim now. This is so embarassing, especially when you're in class.

When you have a thought you don't want that you want to block out, do you stim to supress it?

Here's one: Does standing on one foot and spinning around count as stimming? Because I do that a lot when I'm bored or excited.

I mostly rock. But other than that, when sitting my leg jumps up and down in this involuntary jerky motion that drives people around me crazy.

I rock, if only just my head back and fort or in circles. I'm constantly tapping my feet or heels on the ground, sometimes "double bass drumming"...I fidget with my fingers, one of my favorites is touching each finger to my thumb back and forth.

Oh, and I bite my fingernails and chew the inside of my cheeks.

I stim when I get bored, too. I do a lot of finger motions and shrugging of my shoulders. Quite often, I find myself sighing, too, even though I'm not really very upset about anything.

Compulsive finger snapping, as well as rocking back and forward sometimes.

Flapping my leather bookmark across the pages of whatever I am reading, & twisting & turning it in my hands.

I like the feel of it, the sound it makes, & the "strobe" effect. In fact this was the reason it was first suggested to me that I might be an Aspie.

A lot of things can be stimming behaviors, and also you can stim off of something. I bite my hands a lot, spin, flap, rock, twist my fingers, also noticed two stims I never really acknowledged... I might be eating something or doing something and be tapping my one foot really loud, and when I sit anywhere I sit in a ball lol, i dont know why, but sometimes I play with the skin between my foot and leg, like the almost the extra skin on my ankle. I also rub everything thats soft like i have a special surface on my phone silicone cover thing that i rubbed the crap out of, feels so good lol. I also have a pot and i rub the pot handle. I also have these certian kooshes that if u push them they light up different colors real slow, then get real fast, and i get really giddy when i play with those lol. I stim a lot!

^Ditto.

I also crack my fingers and neck a lot.

I crack my fingers, I clean my ears four or five times a day, I chew my fingernails REALLY bad when stressed *that one gets my hands smacked by my grandma, she is often the cause of said nervousness*. I also like chewing leather, rubbing soft things, and I play with this seam on my computer just below the keyboard tons, I shove my overly chewed fingernails into it and run them along.

If something catches my attention, or I zone out, my mouth hangs open. And I play or chew my hair all the time, its why I usually dont let it grow to long, cause the chewing destroys it.

And I randomly think things in my head and make the facial expression for whatever I'm thinking. That one gets me weird looks.

Those may not all be stims, but I think thats everything weird I do :P

me too, constantly. I also make vocal noises when distressed, and wave my arms.

Standing: sway side to side, like Stevie Wonder, to relax

Standing: rock back & forth, when impatient or trapped in a conversation I'd rather not have

Standing: foot tap, when shutting down pre-meltdown (drop the topic of conversation and back away!)

Sitting: leg bounces uncontrollably. sometimes one, sometimes both

Drinking and smoking both qualify as stims for me. As a child, teachers actually banned me from the swingsets (stim), to force me to socialize, as soon as their backs were turned, I walked off the kickball field and hid in a tree. I actuallyt LOL'd the other day, reading a WP post from the Mom of a young Aspie, who's 12 yo son stims by making fart noise - that's hysterically funny to me because I used to do that myself, until adults threatened to beat me for it. Other 12 YO boys, of course, found it extremely amusing.

I could say that as well (drinking and smoking). As a kid I used to love swingsets too.

I rock a lot (back and forth and side to side) and bounce my legs when I'm sitting. When I'm standing I put my hands in my pockets and shift my hips back and forth, kind of like a dog wagging his tail. I also pace or walk around a table. When I'm particularly needing to stim I flap my hands/arms and shake my head. I love chairs that spin or rock and I utilize that feature constantly. I also love watching patterns, particularly if they're colored lights or fire. I judge what's stimming by that special feeling it gives me deep in my soul, and I'd guess that there are maybe 2 waking hours out of every week where I'm not stimming to some degree.
