Your parents haven't really got much imagination, have they? They want to stay with the traditional games. If you asked them to play poker or something they'd probably be fine with that, if they had the time and happened to want to play.
Asking somebody to play a game that involves storytelling, which you've made up yourself, may only work if the person you're asking likes improv acting or role-playing already. And even then, the game may turn out to be not very good, depending on whether the rules are well thought out and whether you and your partner have fun with them.
But there is nothing wrong with making up a new game. Every game we play now, someone made up. Your parents might not be interested in playing that kind of a game, but they shouldn't look down on you because you like it. They seem quite stuck on the idea that trying new things, pretending, or telling stories is "for kids" and not something you or they should be doing. They're quite wrong, of course. Storytelling is a pastime many adults engage in, and if you want to use tarot cards to simulate a war, that is something quite a few adults would enjoy.
Find yourself some nerdy folks who like stories and don't mind your oddities.
If you like to make up new games, I also recommend you find existing card, board, and role-playing games, and learn to play those; find out what is good about them and what is not so good; then make up your own. Designing games is something you can do as a hobby. I have one friend who has created several role-playing games, and I've played one of them, which worked rather well, though it had some glitches that needed to be worked out. I don't see why you couldn't get into that, if it's what you like to do; you don't have to be published or paid to design new games. And even if you did want to get them published, you'd need practice before you could make one that's good enough to be published. So go and have fun, and don't let your parents' lack of imagination hold you back.
