This is a spinoff of the "if AS is genetic" poll.

How many people in your family, related to you by blood, are very NT?

For me the answer is "1."

I had a paternal grandmother who was very NT, and one of my daughters is. Other than that all of my family (aunt, other kids, sibling, parents, maternal granparents, and paternal grandfather) are/ were at least on the "geek" spectrum, though not necessarily AS, but not exactly uber-NT either.

That's true, I had to suspend my disbelief for a few seconds.

Wait I just drank a glass of imaginary carrot juice and put the answer at:

father alcoholic
uncle 1 alcoholic (dead)
uncle 2 recoverd alcoholic

mother pathological liar, packrat
(no siblings)

half-sister from father likely on the spectrum. Never maried.

half-brother from mother drug addicted married with four kids. His oldest son is a drug addict and I say all his kids have learning disorders.

sister seems NT but she has kids that act like me (2 boys and a third due in June)

Do not know much about my moms parents. Her mother died when she was 16. History of confienment in mental hospitals and ECT.(all dead)

My moms aunt was never married.(dead)

My fathers parents seem to be the niciest people in the world. (both dead)

My parents and my older sister are very strongly NT. I probably got my AS through one of my grandparents, not sure which one. It was probably a recessive trait in the family, so it skips a generation, and even then, the odds of offspring being born with it is not 100%.

My mom, dad, sister. I can't really count on my puppies can I? Hehe. I don't know about my extended family but I know my Uncle Chris has ADD. My youngest cousin has Down Sydorme. Otherwise them pretty much NT.

My mother is very sociable, but she is a chronic nail biter. Also, she can't touch her fingers to her thumb independently. That's a little test the early intervention team used on my son when they diagnosed him. I don't know my father, but he is an engineer and I'm told very cold emotionally--any man who could walk out on his kids when they were babies and never see them again is undoubtedly a cold SOB. So, no one in my family is completely NT.

Neither my dad or my step-mom are very sociable. My brother is. The men on my father's side of the family tend to be rather non-sociable (with the exception of one uncle). My grandmother is actually fairly shy but she has adjusted pretty well. I have a young cousin who has been diagnosed (well, it was a "consensus") with AS.

My parents both had nine siblings and all of them had six to ten kids so I have a huge gene pool to look at.

Of the whole lot, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, 2nd and 3rd cousins and grandparents:

All NTs with the possibility of a few AS cousins (maternal side) and one brother that either has extreme AS or something bordering on Schizophrenia. My mother is a Sociopath, no doubt of that. My one grandfather had alcohol induced Schizophrenia that disappeared when he wasn't drinking (diagnosed a long time ago since he died in 1932). That's it.

There are also weird things in my immediate family. My brothers all have Glaucoma although no one else does in the line. My Opthamologist said that's very strange. He's never seen it. We are all horrendously near sighted and have pronounced Astigmatism even though none of the rest even wear glasses. (Now remember, we're talking I have hundreds of relatives I know about.) So, to me, there are definitely some recessive gene issues going on between my parents.

I'm not sure about my family, I do have relatives with bipolar disorder but are otherwise NT. My youngest cousin was born very prematurely so he's had developmental delays, but I'm not sure if he's on the spectrum at all. I'd probably have to dig deeply to see if there's any ancestor who was described as "eccentric" as that might be a clue to another Aspie.

I wouldn't say they are very NT, but they are all NT and I get along with them well. I had a friend who was very NT though and I can't stand being around her.

I had a great aunt who I'm convinced was at least on the spectrum. In fact if I got any AS genes it probably was from her or at least my dad's side of the family. I seem very similar to her.
