Thinking back to the "white diet" described for certain Aspies, I was thinking about drinking and any issues we might have different from NT's.
I know that myself, and my nephew (the only Aspies I know well enough to speak of) both have extreme aversions and/or 'addictions' for lack of a better word with types of things we drink.
For example, I can't - can't - can't - drink anything which isn't as sweet as Kool-Aid. It can be anything; soda any flavour, iced tea, carbonated or not.
But if I try to drink a glass of water, it's like watching me splutter, sip, make faces, and either glug it all at once or give up on it.
Same with alcohol! I can't stand the taste/smell... and I found the only sort I could get down, at all, was that frightfully syrupy-sweet dessert sherry from Poland. Which, yes, tastes like Kool-Aid
I was wondering..... in general, as compared to NT's..... do we aspies have more specific tastes and sensitivities? I'd imagine we might.....
But then, I can think of lots of NT's who drink pots of coffee all day long. Or guzzle Cokes.
And I'd like to hear from both NT's and others to see if there's any pattern.
Oh, and I can't stand for my drink to have any texture..... thick veg juice, bubble tea, liquid yogurt, peach 'nectar', OJ with pulp .... gag!
And of course, I wonder if it's common for people like me to forget to drink, don't feel thirst and get dehydrated?
