Who here as a problem of repeating what they say over and over?

I do. I sometimes expect a response from people about what I say, and they say "ENOUGH! STOP!"

Additionally, I lost a friend because I kept calling her constantly around the holiday in 2007 because I wanted to see her. Lesson learned for me.......... and this is why I don't have a GF. :(

I ask my husband the same questions a lot, coz I like to hear the same answers, and I have oral rituals which I repeat several times a day.

I do it quite a bit. Most of the time, I don't realize that I'm doing it until my husband points it out.

I do. I get fixated on one point and cannot leave it.

My SO finds it to be annoying. I do not even realize I am doing it when in the middle of it.

We are working on a way for him to tell me I am stuck when I am in the middle of doing it.

I used to do it rather frequently but there was a point where I became hyperaware of it and kept trying to stop myself from doing it because when I noticed it I started thinking I sounded autistic. I didn't think I was autistic, and I have been bullied for so many things the thought of being seen as autistic was rather terrifying, Also, internalized ableism. Eventually I stopped repeating myself.

I think there's a considerable difference between a tendency to repeat yourself over and over (whether in private or public) and extending that tendency to the extent where you repeatedly initiate unsolicited interaction on the subject with an individual through a public communication system.

The former is socially-regarded as a form of eccentricity (which might or might not be personally annoying to the people with whom you're interacting) whereas the latter is quite probably regarded as a legally-defined criminal offence of harassment.

About the latter: I donno how I can stop myself before it's too late. Maybe it is my OCD.

I do this too. On "my side" of a conversation ill repeat the same point two or three times in my paragraph of speech. When I catch myself doing this ill take the cue and shut up, let the other person talk awhile. Of course I'll do the same thing in a few minutes when its my turn to speak again.

To extend on my post, I do all of repeat information a lot, tending to say information at least 3 times if I'm speaking, repeat questions that have already been answered, and am palilaliaic.

So, repeating content, and repeating without content are both things I do.

I hope I am not angering anyone if I repeat myself here.

Yes. I have been critisized a lot for that, and I never understood why I did it, but it seems to diminish as I become more aware of my aspie traits, - like other annoying things, I used to do. Awareness helps.
