Do you have one?

My present favourite is 'disembarking'. My favourite before that was 'discombobulated' and before that it was 'procrastination'.

You?

Mine include 'tantrum', 'jejune', 'elegant', 'audacity', and 'ilk', at least in English.
Not being a native English speaker, I was introduced to many new words through fiction such as comic books, television shows, and movies.

I think I first encountered 'tantrum' in Transformers, where it's the name of a Decepticon. I looked up its meaning, and I liked the sound of it.

'Jejune' is one of those words you rarely see, and I like using it.

'Elegant' is just a pretty word for a pretty concept.

I've always liked 'superfluous'. It rolls so easily off the tongue.

I also have a tendency of applying alternate pronunciation to words. Words such as 'light', 'flight', and 'might' become 'lig-uh-hut', 'flig-uh-hut' and 'mig-uh-hut'. 'Shakespeare' becomes 'shack-e-pyar-e'.

"Predicated" is one I often get into conversation and enjoy

I love "egregious" but find it unuseable. Which is a shame cos it has a beautiful shape

And as a purely personal joke between me and me, I enjoy using what I perceive of as being the positive form of a word that is much more common in negative form. So it amuses me to use words like "eluctable", "fathomable", "defatigable", etc...
People tend not to know what i'm on about and I tend not to care.

In the 10 mins spent writing this i've been trying to think of a word I like as much as egregious and failed. It's the shape and "feel". It has a linguistic eroticism to it that i simply cannot quantify.

Favourite scrabble word is yclept.

"Festoon" is fun to say, as is "nyan"--the Japanese word for "meow." Nyan nyan nyan...

EDIT: And "food." FOOOOOOOOOOOD!!

I like the words "ailurophile", "brood", "epiphany", "felicity", and "sempiternal", because I love how beautifully the words are sounded out.

I also like the words "hijinks" and "shenanigans" because they make me smile and laugh, especially the latter word.

I don't really have any favourite words as such, or if I do there is so much to list down.

I have two worst words in the world what almost send me into a irritable meltdown when I read or hear them:-

When people say ''nom nom'' when talking about some nice food they like. I mean, what the f**k is that?? Just say ''yum yum'' for f**k sake!! ! (Told you I almost go insane when I hear that!)

And the word ''munchkin''. I HATE when past boyfriends have called me that. I have told my boyfriend I have got now he can call me any sweet name he wants, but not munchkin. I just hate that stupid word for some reason.

Encrypt (or encryption, decrypt, decryption, etc.) because it has a really nice sound like fallen leaves being stepped on.

Though after reading this thread, I might have to add a few.

I can't say that I have a favourite word to be honest.

I do have a preference of choosing words that go together when I am talking or writing.

I am a bit choosy, but I can't be specific about favourites.

They're all quite special in their own way.

"choose" -I like the way it sounds "autism" -how it varies "PECS" -I like the word/picture combination and "sensory". I say "kitty!" multiple times a day -usually about or to my cat.

Might sound weird but mine is "interference". Since English is my second language, I used that word when I wanted to transition to my American English accent from speaking Swedish. I would say out loud "interference" in a really exaggerated American manner and that snapped me into American mode. :D

Echolalia. I once wrote an essay on it for A Level psychology.

It's the sound babies make when they're learning how to talk.
