Has anyone worked out how to transfer your theoretical understanding of social rules norms and non verbals into your "instinctive brain". That is you learn that a certain posture indicates anger and with practise you can then instantly recognise that posture without devoting analytical thought to it.
You see someone with a scrunched face and the concept of anger flashes in your mind without any conscious effort.
A good proportion of autists can tell the difference between :D and :( its immediately apparent. :o and  arent imo. I thought that  indicated embarassment for years for example./

So how can we make our social understandings comparatively immediate and instinctive

Maybe learn that stuff on you tube videos about reading body language and facial expressions
and the practice them in a mirror or on camera? I do not know if learning how to read that stuff
and copy it is all that hard or not. i just know it is not something that is already built in like it is with NT's.
