I have this unexplainable fear of a particular song.
Because I cannot explain to my boyfriend why I have a fear of this song, he is calling bulls**t on this phobia i have always had since i was a kid.
I cannot stand the song, "Move Your Feet" by Juniour Senior, but love so much of their other songs.
The song makes me wanna smash whatever is playing it to make the horrid sound go away. It hurts in my head more than my ears.
Just thinking of the song in my head makes me want to throw up. But my boyfriend still won't believe me about not being able to listen to this song, and thinks i am just trying to get my own way.

Is there anyone else out there who suffers from this or something similar?

Anything by Rod Stewart....in addition to all pop music, most rock and all classical except Bach and a little Vivaldi. It doesn't just annoy me - it really upsets me.

I am glad theres some people other than myself who have this problem. Yeah this one song really upsets me too. happens with other songs too. There's no way for you to explain it either, is there?

I can't stand Bruno Mars' songs. Actually, there's one that I can just barely tolerate, but the rest get a "quick, change that station now!" reaction from me every time they come on the radio. I don't really know why, but maybe it has something to do with the tone of his voice. If I have to listen to it (like if it's playing in a store or something), I feel really upset and aggravated until it goes off. It's a very different reaction than the one I have to other songs and types of music that I don't like but can tolerate.

Thanks. Yeah, that sounds very similar to what happens to me. This has been a nightmare.. trying to get an NT to understand this is just not working out....

Yeah, I do this with a few songs. Blurred Lines is one of them. I also can't stand the chorus to
Payphone by Maroon 5, and I don't know why, because I really like Maroon 5. I also don't really like Demi Lovato or Bruno Mars's singing in general, either. Voices are a huge factor in whether I'll like a song or not.

I actually like Move Your Feet, it's one of my favorite songs. I can see where you'd find it annoying though, lol

Anything that's sung by Farrah Abraham. Her songs sound like two robots getting intimate.

I can only think of the profound effect music has on our brains....Aspies are less able to handle any negative effects, or maybe music affects us differently.

It's a mystery to me why Michael Bolton still makes records and has an audience. His strained voice irks me, like listening to a whirring dentist's drill.

Im rather adaptable to music genres, but there are some things on the radio that Im a little beyond disliking to being almost allergic to.

Chad Kroeger's voice, or an ice pick to your ear?

Ill take the ice pick.

That high pitched synthesizer thing they use in the intros to Rap songs- makes modern rap sound even worse than it already sounds ( quite an achievement).

NT friends also have curious dislkes. One NT friend just cant stand Jimmy Buffet ('something about the rythmn, or somethng, I dunno"). Another friend just cant stand the sound of U2.

There are a few songs I can't listen to not because of any fault of the song itself but because of bad timing. If something really negative was happening at the same time the song was playing then the two things are forever linked and I can't listen to the song ever again.

I don't have that kind of unusual physical reaction to songs, but there are several I won't listen to for other reasons. Maybe it's specific instruments or sounds?

Right now, I have HAD IT with most Christmas carols...because of the constant playlist at Walmart. (Guess that doesn't really count, though....)

With that being said, there are several different versions of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" that are AWFUL. Who thought those would be a good idea...ever? :?
