Is the media also playing up a need to have guns banned over there? To me it seems that way. I won't give my opinion on what I feel because I live in an entirely different culture where guns were more tightly controlled when I was 9, so I've never really been exposed to them.
I think they would focus on Adam's AS or supposed AS to show you that normal people don't commit crimes like these.
Personally, I've been so pressured to act less autistic that I would have gone over the edge. This is really a society problem with how we treat others who are different and since the explosion of social media we all care so much less about each other and don't care how we make others feel.
Oh, now I've read the article I can see this is Australian media. Now I'm sure they are playing up the need to have guns banned in America. A lot of Australians think it's an obvious things to make guns illegal over there. It seems they are trying to paint an Adam as an abnormal disturbed person.
Mental illness can make people act this way. I hate to add stigma to it but it does happen especially if the person doesn't get the right treatment or isn't in a supportive environment. It's a real tragedy what happened and it was horrible how the media made people turned against autistic people, but we those of us in the community managed to turn all that around.

Connecticut school shooter Adam Lanza had been diagnosed with a controversial disorder that made it hard for him to deal with sights, touch and smell and Asperger's syndrome, a new report claimed Tuesday.
That doesn't even make sense. Also, the article is from February 2013, so it would still have been when the media was all pointing its fingers at Asperger's being the cause.

Adam Lanza also would have not responded appropriately to pain.
This is hilarious. So now we have to fear people with sensory processing disorder? Please. I have severe sensory issues and it usually has me cowering in a corner. Yes, let's dehumanize people with SPD.
