DUH? Everyone does! But in my personal case I live in Florida and we just bought annual passes to Universal Studios. As a HUGE Harry Potter fan and Universal overall I was researching best times to go/things to do/crowds during the year etc. I want to get the MOST of our 1 year pass. Not just a few rides every few times we go and be done "There's our 1 year pass DONE!" COME ON! IMO there are eateries at CityWalk and a HUGE theatre and restaurants and such. Sadly researching stuff my parents don't want to hear it. Also I got all OMG! excited flapping hands and was rubbing the walls in the Potter area! IMO WOW! They brought the area of the book TO LIFE THAT'S AMAZING TO ME!! !! ! Sadly my family feels plan the day before our trip not weeks before or talk about it 24/7. But I WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF OUR TICKETS!

Can anyone relate? Thank You.

I wonder if Universal Studios Florida is the same as Universal Studios Hollywood.

I used to work in Universal Studios Hollywood, one of the 25 or so jobs I've had in my life.

How much does a yearly pass cost?

I definitely know what that's like. Last summer my family took a road trip to visit my step-brother in California, and I don't really enjoy long drives, so I planned out several possible routes we could take, which would pass through plenty of interesting things to do and see on the way, with the expectation that we would vote on which route to take (I of course planned out and decided on the one that would pass through as many dinosaur museums as possible), but all that came of my effort was my parents deciding on the quickest but driest route available. Two days of driving through the Utah salt beds. Exciting. I also made out lists of things we might want to do in California, but every time I asked what people thought, the only response I got was, "We'll see when we get there." Novelty makes me uneasy, so this wasn't just a frustration over the fact that they'd be wasting time later deciding what to do, but also that there would be a lot of unscheduled changes in plan that I was unprepared for. I really hate jumping out of bed with no idea of what's going on that day.

We paid $260 a person. Annual pass to both parks here. Universal resort Orlando and Island of Adventures. :-) Tickets are about $130 for a day so as a family we figured if we go twice we've already paid for our tickets. (which we've gone twice within a week.) :-)

OMG! YES! My older sister also has went to Disney with us and HATES my planning behavior too! :-( I plan what ride and what shop. Our last Disney trip (We only had 4 day pass through Jan-May 2012) So I went to the shops while family rode a ride or two it was sort of fun focusing on my interest of buying souvenirs. :-) My sister yells at me "I don't want to hear planning! What happens happens!" and sadly that's not how my brain works. :-( Everything has to be a certain way and I want to get the MOST out of my time at a theme park. I don't expect it from a 4 day pass but a 365 day one is NO EXCUSE! If we haven't explored every NEW inch of the parks including CityWalk that's just SAD! I don't care much of Island of Adventures since we've been there multiple times but the Potter and some NEW Universal rides are IMO a MUST not to mention we've NEVER looked around CityWalk much. :-)

I plan them to death. I realize that other might not adhere to my plan, but I can follow the plan. It gives me structure and a safe way to anticipate.

My family went on a cruise on the biggest cruise ship in the world at the time. Previous experience told me cruises are not the best aspie vacation. But to survive I researched the ship, all the shows and activities and likely schedules to death. I knew what shows I would want to go to and how to fit them all in, and coordinate around dinner times, and excursions, etc. Not everyone in the family came with me to everything, but they always knew where I was, and I did not have to do the silly lounging on deck thing (I did my pool time after 10 PM when they were quiet). And I had quiet reading time. I also insisted on the guided ship tour (and art tour) so I was never lost (although I did and unguided tour when I first got on with a map too).

Obsessive? Yes. But it helped me survive. My family thinks I am nuts for not "going with the flow" but they are understanding that as an aspie I need some personal control, and I need lots of structure.

Exactly!! !! Just if it happens it happens doesn't work for me! I want to get the MOST USE out of theme parks not just throw a dart and whatever it lands on AKA ride we ride that day is it. Oh well we didn't get to X ride! UH! Disney we only had 4 day pass!! !! They find it annoying not just throwing caution to the wind and do whatever. They sadly don't understand my Aspieness. :-(

I never plan. If I'm going away it's usually spontaneous, on the last minute.

My Birthday was just in October. I decided what I wanted to do. Contacted a few Friends and my 2 brothers and told them I'll get everything, how much each had to pay and we're to meet. I text everyone and my brother texted back " I like how you get so serious about things". I truly think I was born with a gift for planning things and for details.

Also if I do not do stuff on my day off I feel I wasted the day. Yesterday I got up at 4:30, left the house at 5:35, started work at 6am-2:45pm. Then at 4 picked up my wife from work. When we got home my wife relaxed, as for me I cleaned the bathroom, Dishes and cleaned stove.

Today I was off from work but, my wife was not. I got up at 7am and just sat around till 1pm. Then went out with my dad for lunch. I really felt like I wasted the day sitting around so I had 45 minutes before I had to pick up my wife so I went home vacuumed and did dishes.

When I was younger and we went to Disney I researched in guide books and wrote out a schedule of what rides we were going to go on and in which order.

I really enjoy researching vacations. I don't always follow the plan, but I enjoy the research for its own sake and it often comes in handy.

I heard about the Harry Potter thing a while back and I'd really like to go!

I don't really research vacations though, and I decided not to go with my family when they went to disneyland last time. I kind of regret it now :(

I like to research my vacations, but I don't bother anybody by talking about it constantly.

I always research vacations or day trips that I'm planning to make. I like to know what are the best attractions on offer, places to eat, drink, stay and what are the best ways of getting there/getting around. When I visited Oxford last year, I had done extensive research of the city so I was able to plan an itinerary for the day which I did stick to for the most part. And I enjoy doing this research which is always a plus.
