Wow, I never knew.

I always thought my brother was an NT who was just a little strange.

My brother's been going to counselling and his counsellor has in a letter recently diagnosed him with Semantic Pragmatic Disorder.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantic_P ... c_Disorder

I knew my brother showed autistic traits, but I never knew he was on the spectrum to.

This diagnosis was done by the psychologist/counsellor, and now he knows (He's 17) it's a sign of relief.

Now, he's a little angry about this new diagnosis, but I'm sure he'll get over it.

My 2 sisters are obviously Neurotypical anyways. As there's me my brother, and 2 sisters.

Me and my brother are both in the spectrum. :) But guaranteed he won't post here.

I was tempted to post here about my brother and my concerns that he shows Autistic traits, but now with this diagnosis in hand. It's a kind of relief.

I just wanted to share this with you....for some reason. :)

Thanks for sharing.

I was a little disturbed by my mothers reaction when I said I had a DX of AS and thought my brother had a lot of traits. She didnt really say much about MY having it but was shocked that I had the audacity to think her perfect child(bro was a mommas boy)could have something so dreadful.I was a little insulted and a little amused because he does have more extreme traits then I do.Odder yet, that we are not biological sybs.I would love to talk to him about getting DX but he hates my guts and has refused to talk to me for past 20 years(how mature).

I hope this revelation can bring you and your brother closer. It would be nice to have family you can talk to about AS issues.

Wow!

Do you really believe this exists and does your brother know about it?

That's really cool. In my family there's 6 kids. 1 diagnosed with Autism/profound MR 1 diagnosed AS, I'm not officially diagnosed with AS (but have been told by a few dr.'s that I'm classic AS), the rest of the kids in the family show a lot of characteristics of AS as well, although none of them have been diagnosed either. My parents show signs of it as well. We have been a very close family. We feel like we are so much alike so everyone feels comfortable enough to discuss anything with each other and not get treated like we're stupid for feeling a certain way.

I hope he knows enough to prove you right and you think this all makes sense.
