I love touching things too. I like soft things like soft stuffed animals or soft real animals or velvety things. I also love smooth hard things like glass beads or smooth metal like bike parts and rock climbing stoppers. I like knobby tires on mountain bikes as well. I have one stuffed animal that when I stroke it or squeeze it it literally sends a cooling sensation down my spine and my whole body relaxes. I also love velvety rose petals. But I find it calming to touch things and sometimes I will go to a sporting goods store and touch the bikes and rock climbing equipment over and over.

Yep. Im very "tactile".
When it comes to certain small things like a sea shell, i like to rub it across my lips too.
And toy cars like hot wheels, i like to roll up and down my arm and across my mouth.
I always want to touch stuff and feel its texture.
One of my favorite things is microfiber.
I have a big micro fiber robe i love to wear with just my underwear on.
And i have a microfiber blanket too that i wrap around me in bed.

My 7 year old Aspir Girl LOVES touching and cats and dogs. She also loves "smooth" rocks which I'll sometimes try and use to bring her out of a meltdown but, only if I'm certain she's not going to throw it at me lol. She also loves shells and well anything soft and smooth. It's really neat being able to see posts from others like her talking about similar interests feelings, etc. thanks to all the Aspie's that are so brave and honest about themselves. If not for you guys, I'd be so in the dark with my daughter.

I echo your thanks ILoveMyApsieGirl. Had it not been for WP I would still be in the dark about myself. I spent decades in frustration not understanding things about myself until now. It is a joy to be able to learn and to share with others and I am so glad we are helping you with your daughter. She is blessed to have a mom who can learn about how special she is and be there for her. Many of us grew up before there was an Autism Spectrum or Asperger's or any knowledge of conditions like Misophonia and I am so glad that kids like your daughter won't have to go through it alone like we did. I am really glad that you are here on WP and able to help her.

Yes, there's a reason why as a child my special interest was stuffed animals, I had hundreds. They were soft, squishy, lovable. And as I got older, I traded my stuffed animal obsession to blankets. I love fleece, Sherpa, down blankets that are fluffy. All because they are soft or fluffy or squishy, and make me feel good. I have to take a blanket with me if I travel and if I'm at home I'm always wrapped in one .

I also love finding clothes that have really soft cotton. I haven't found many like that but I'm wearing some pajama pants right now that are soft cotton and it feels wonderful. I also like touching velour fabric.

I'm not a fan of anything rough, slimy or sticky. Only soft things.

Yes, I'm very tactile. Soft faux fur on stuffed toys, microfiber as someone as mentioned -- I have microfiber "faux suede" throw pillows and I adore the feel of them.

Real animals for how soft they are, especially the soft belly fur of cats. I get to pet the wild waterbirds I study and their feathers are unbelievably soft to touch around the neck and head and chest. It's an angelic sensation to touch the feathered body of a bird.

But my biggest touch obsession is books. I have a Kindle, but part of the reason I still prefer physical books is because I'm in love with the way they feel when I'm holding them in my hands while reading. I like to rub my fingers against the cover and my thumbs against the paper page. It really gets good when my thumbs start to warm the page; there's something about the papery texture and the warmth coming back to my skin from it that I love and I don't know why. And this enjoyment doesn't distract me at all from actually reading the book and staying focused on what I'm reading -- it just adds to the pleasure.

.

Yep. I can't help but just feel on clothes that are on sale or couches or pots and pans when going to a mall or department store or anything. I'm just curious, that's all.

Remember as a kid i was always being told to not touch stuff.

Yes, I love touching things. I like to go into clothing stores to feel soft fabric (special kind of stim; hope the employees don't think I'm casing the store!).

I'm so glad to hear that! Sometimes, being on the spectrum, we feel lonely, so it's nice to know there are other people who are on the same wavelength. I'm glad to hear your time here has been so helpful!

I like touching different things, too. I like things that are soft, in particular, like blankets, minky, plushies, you get the idea. I've also found gooey/sticky things interesting to touch in the past, too, although I regard getting sticky as something of a nuisance now. I guess that partly explains why I loved stickers so much when I was a kid. Even now, like when I get one of those long luggage tag stickers woven through the handles of my suitcase at an airport, I love peeling it off and running my open palms over the adhesive....the sensation of it peeling on and off the palms of my hands just feels good to me. :D

I also like the feel of nice, cool metal, like that of die-cast toy cars. :D I have a bunch of those.

Yes I love to touch things. Especially when I am out shopping, I want to feel all the different textures of things.

Yep. It's gotten me some "what are you doing?" responses from others. I also like to put things in my mouth.

Sometimes, when I am walking to class, my hand shoots out to touch the wall as I walk by.

Marble, stone, rubbing fleece or soft fabric, smelling leather and book paper.
