When you watch TV and hear, on the news, about murders, rapes etc, does it affect you?

It doesn't affect me at all. I cannot remember the last time anything on the news made me sad or upset.

I also find it extremely hard to feel for anyone who is crying, very sad etc. I just sort of stand there and wait for them to finish.

I cannot seem to relate to anyone and showing concern or sympathy is really hard.

Why am I like this? I'm not really complaining as I find most emotions a hindrance.

Im the same way and its bothered me too.
I sometimes wonder when people show emotion over something like a news
story if they are not acting, because their reactions seem so unreal to me from
a personal standpoint. And also when people get all excited at sporting events.
im just standing there (usually with my fingers in my ears) watching all these
people jumping around and cheering and whistling and I just do not feel it in me at all.

Something that makes me feel really evil is that I tend to look forward to major natural disasters. When I hear something about an earthquake or massive hurricane it interests me because they are rare and are some of the most dangerous events that can occur on Earth. I know that the results usually involve costs of billions in damage and deaths, but it doesn't really make me sad or anything.. or at least my excitement overtakes any sadness that I would have.

If I hear about rape or something like that I don't feel sad either, but I THINK that it's disgusting for someone to commit an act like that.

As for sporting events, I never really followed them. I was never one to get that excited over something like sport anyway.. I'd sort of just sit there and feel slightly happy and comfortable instead.

The news can and does bother me. Often stories are about injustices that should never have happened. Like CeCe McDonald being sent to prison for defending herself from a white supremacist threatening her with deadly force, or Marissa Alexander in Florida being sentenced to 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot to scare off her abusive husband.

I am often upset/distressed by the news or by seeing living critters suffering/crying/hurt/in pain, so i tend to avoid it, especially if I don't know how to help.

Oh I get excited by quakes and tsunamis and volcanic eruptions too as they are magnificent natural events but I do feel badly for any people who got hurt or lost their homes too.

I don't really watch sports.

I'm pretty desensitized to all the stuff they show on the news. If they show stuff I'm not desensitized to I do get quite distressed. I often feel more distressed when I hear about parents severely punishing their kids vs. news about wars or shootings.
