I've stumbled across threads about children on the spectrum still in diapers at a later age than the average age.

But I was rather early. By 20 months I didn't need a diaper during the day, then by 22 months I didn't need a diaper at night either. And I never have since. So by 2 years old I was as dry as a bone, day and night. My mum says I was quicker than my NT brother with potty-training.

Anyone else here who was early or average with the potty-training?

I was toilet trained at 39 months so I think that is average.

I was Potty-trained at age almost 5, but I have no memory about it, though I do have very early memory about other things.
It was told to me that I was Potty-trained at age almost 5.

My mother said I was 2 1/2 years old.

She told me that she was tired of changing dirty diapers (there were no Pampers in those days). So she said me down on the toilet, and said "This is the toilet. This is where I want you to make.....and ....."

Apparently, I listened quite well, even though I couldn't talk.

I have a vague memory of being stuck by a diaper pin--however, I don't remember wearing diapers...only underwear.

I was fully trained at three years old. My mum started when I was 2 and a half.

From what I've been told, I was about average as far as potty training goes, and in my family, that means sometime after the age of 3. My niece who isn't on the spectrum was also fully potty trained shortly after her 3rd birthday.

I was potty trained very young. I did have an elder sibling though and thus, did everything early like walking, counting and reading, because I wanted to do everything elders could.

I learnt to walk early too, I was told I was walking at 11 months. I said my first word at 13 or 14 months. I have an older sibling.

My husband was diagnosed with Asperger's before it disappeared as a diagnosis. His mom says he pretty much potty trained himself at around 18-20 months and never fell back on it. My little brother has what would have been classified as HFA and was about 5. Now, I was 14 when he was 5, so I remember that. My mom didn't get him a toddler potty or try to potty train him. He probably also potty trained himself.

My son is in the early stages of potty training right now. He's almost 21 months old. A kid is ready to use a potty when they are 1) interested, 2) able to pull pants down and up, 3) knows the feeling of having to "go," 4) can control their muscles to "hold it." That's kind of a lot for a little kid and we all get there at different times.

There is also emotional ready and having the cognitive understanding about it. Sometimes a kid shows all those signs and still aren't ready. I sure did bit I didn't understand I was supposed to go in the potty so I had it all backwards. I can imagine how confusing it must have been for me because I was basically taught to go in my diaper and my mom always changed them and always put them on me and then one day she buys me this chair with a bucket that slides under the seat and she would put me on it butt naked and even having me watch her use the toilet didn't work either because I couldn't make the connection I was supposed to be doing that now. I am sure this also happens with some normal toddlers too which would explain why some of them refuse to toilet train when you try. Sometimes having another baby does the trick.

I don't know when I was potty trained, but I can't ever remember wearing diapers so it must have been decently early.

I did have a problem with bedwetting until I was 15, though.
