I have a library of people's facial expressions in my head. If I know someone well enough, I can recognize which expression goes with which mood. After a while of knowing a person my brain creates a 'file' for them. This apparently is my brain's way around not being able to read faces automatically. It helps me communicate better. Socialization becomes awkward when I don't know someone well and don't have their facial expressions 'on file'.
Does anyone else do this?

I still get it wrong about half the time with people I know, but that is a step up from getting it wrong 90% of the time with strangers.

No. I need one of those machines like they make to translate baby's cries, except for facial expressions.

I can hardly recognize faces themselves half the time, much less read the expressions.
