My psychiatrist says that I want to stick however he says it's only mild when I think it is moderate.

Although he did put down level two before so I guess that shows that I'm right :P

(not that he said Level one it's just that my worrying mind said that after he came out that he might reduce mine to level one)

After he said my what I started arguing with them saying that I'm not mild that I'm moderate because I can't take care myself and have problems with communication and socialization I need more support and even when supports are in place And that I need the support of someone who's level two and then after I saw him I had a big meltdown and shutdown.

he said anxiety is the number one thing in girls with autism and that my anxiety is causing the voices and gave me another medication

He didn't say anything about the schools situation though. And he thinks autism is a mental illness and that I would be considered mentally Ill.

If you were at Level 1, wouldn't you have a better chance to be placed in a mainstream-type situation at school?

What do you mean when your psychiatrist says you "want to stick?"

Wtf? This guy sounds very rude to me and like he is not even listening to what you say to him. Also, how precisely would anxiety cause voices? Also, not all girls on the spectrum have anxiety- he's wrong to stereotype like that. I feel like you are having anxiety because he is not listening to what you have to say and is just assuming whatever he wants about you. I almost would be tempted to not even go see him again... not sure if you have that kind of option though.

I think Jen's fear is that if she is regraded to autism level 1, she loses her support worker. I would have thought that if that happens and she can get back to a mainstream school, she would still qualify for an aide, but I don't know how the system in the US works.
The other consideration as I read her situation, is that if she goes back to her mainstream school, or even goes to a special school, just being around people, could set off another severe anxiety attack, which could send her back to hospital.

That's a good question. I don't know if one with "level-one autism" qualifies for an aide.

I'm not really that familiar with the present-day school system in NY State.

Jen really wants to graduate with "normal" credentials, rather than merely "IEP" credentials.

She wants to break her vicious cycle.

autism is not a mental illness.

I agree with Alex. I'd like to know where this guy comes off by calling it an illness. He doesn't sound like he's much of a professional if he thinks that's what autism is. Even my psychiatrists at the place I go to know it's a condition I have and not an illness.
