Tony Robbins incorporates NLP in his success coach program, I've read his 2 books and tried some of it in the past but not enough to fully engross myself in it, but from my exposure to it I can't recall any negative effects and in some ways it seems to have made for a more acute learning curve in music. Has anyone tried NLP and noticed similar benefits? On 1 level (probably near the surface) it seems like a form of snake oil but what appeals to me is the idea of teaching the brain another way to communicate. Thoughts or experiences?

I would think that we cannot change the way we process info, but we can change the way we communicate the info we have. I would have an issue with it if the reprogammed way of communication has no logic to it.

I always thought that was some way of teaching computers to speak and generate speech and ideas. Don't I feel silly. :D

In my opinion WE can mimic NT behaviour. I've spent my entire life doing just that.
Observing, analysing, breaking it down into categories, and then sub-categories, and copying.

Most definately it has made me appear as an NT, but the downfall of doing so was that I appeared to be an NT to both the general population and doctors. Myself doing this may have something to do with why I have only just been diagnosed as being a person with aspergers at the age of 39.

My advice:
Be yourself; don't copy other people in order to "fit in".

We, the people on the Autistic Spectrum have a choice.
We can either try to "fit in" with the rest of society, or we can be so egocentric that we can't be bothered.
I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.
