Do other aspies taste their fear? Not like anxiety or worry, but when I get a scary shock, like I almost drop something important or almost fall, I'll get this taste in my mouth. An metallic, electrical taste, like sticking my tongue on a 9volt battery. (don't let anyone trick you into that BTW). Does anyone else get this? Is it an aspie thing, or just a 'me' thing?

I can't really taste it but maybe that is due to the massive distraction/masking of it by an overwhelming tactile "electricity" I feel at such moments.

wow :o you have a prodigious memory and/or attention to detail. I cannot hold a candle to that. thank you for that bit of entertaining microknowledge [sounds more hifalutin' than sayin' "trivia" :) ]. are you one of those super-memory-holders who can remember what day of the week it was at any given occasion in your past? if so, you have something in common with actress/entertainer marilu henner, who aside from having a genius IQ also has such a persistent memory.

that must be one strong algorithm. I used to have a little wallet card I got from popsci magazine as a child, made by scientific instruments inc. that would enable its holder to calculate any day of the week in history.

I like people to think I'm a calendar savant because my self-esteem is so low that I need to augment it with supercilious praise.....

Auntblabby -- I was able to terminate my psychotherapy from hell, so now I'm no longer depressed! Isn't that great? Remember how depressed I was in October, and how you cheered me up? Thank you so much.

supercilious - 1. contemptuously indifferent: full of contempt and arrogance.
I hope to the dickens I am not supercilious. what praise I give you comes from my heart.

you're welcome for sure :) but I must ask, [re: curious wording you used above] is part of the reason you are no longer depressed, that you escaped from hellish psychotherapy? or did the psychotherapy help you? you are saying I helped you more than the psychotherapist? wow :o  :bounce: :hail:

I am better because I no longer have to do psychotherapy, although indeed it helped me to a certain degree.

And I used the word "supercilious" wrongly. See? Not so smart am I, yes.

we all have our moments. and to borrow [and augment] from a dead president, it's a damned poor mind that can only think of the dictionary meaning of a word. 8) I want you to try to remember that when you have a bad thought, if you replace it with a better thought you will feel better for that thought is for the time your working memory holds onto it, your entire world. so if you want a better world it starts with replacing that bad thought with a better one. just sayin.'
