I'm not saying people with AS do not have ADHD, but I doubt it is true ADHD for many who seem to have it.
Between executive dysfunction and special interests, anything that DOES NOT hold our interest is a burden to stay focused on. A person with ADHD has a problem staying focused pretty much on anything and everything.
Even "normal" people have a hard time staying focused on things that do not interest them.
This is probably true, at least it is for me. I can check off every symptom of inattentive ADHD and was excessively hyperactive as a kid. My GP tried me on a bunch of different ADHD medications last year, pretty much every kind that exists.
I was really hopeful but none of them did anything to improve my symptoms and I stopped taking them. I'm pretty convinced I don't have real ADHD, just a bunch of AS symptoms that mimic it.
