so,on my mom side
Male cousin:asperger
Female Cousin:autism
me:Autism/PDD,OCD,LD
Mom's cousin/my first cousin,once remove:Asperger
my mother had 2 full sister,and each had one child with ASD.
not sure about her half brother or half sister kids.
Mother cousin is on her Mother side(my Grandmother)
I would say the Autism gene,comes from my maternal grandmother side.

I've a brother,sister both NT
mom sister 1:5 kids,1 with Autism,4 NT
mom sister 2:5 kids,1 with Asperger,4 NT
so,it only effect 1 child per family.

My mother clearly has something somewhat like autism/Asperger's but she is not interested in investigating.

My father also once told me I was EXACTLY like his father, or my paternal grandfather, and he despised the cold unemotional personality we both had.

Ignoring the part about an "Autism gene", my paternal grandfather was rather strange. While I saw him quite frequently because he lived across the field from me, I cannot remember him ever having anything to say to me or to anyone else. I suppose that he must have said something at some time, but I sure don't remember it. His thing was to lay down on the sofa and watch wrestling.

My paternal grandmother, on the other hand, made up for him.

On my mothers side, my maternal grandfather died when my mother was quite young. My maternal grandmother lived about 200 miles away. As far as I know, I never met her but I do remember the family getting together for her funeral shortly before Christmas when I was about 4 or 5.
