Do You Think That People With HFA Are Indigo Children?

I have always thought that there is a reason that there appears to be so many people are born with HFA. I feel a possible explanation might be that we are actually Indigo Children. A lot of the characteristics of Indigo Children and HFA are the same such as being overly logical and anti-social. What are your thoughts on this?

I do. I have always felt like I had a sixth sense that I couldn't explain.

I sure would like to think that all my various addlements "paid" for me getting to be in the exalted position of being an "indigo child."

A lot of people have said to me that I hace the characteristics of an indigo child. Personally, I have never bought into that kind of stuff. As a scientist, I think the traits of indigo children are vague and subject to confirmation bias. So, assuming indigo children are really a thing, they have not yet been properly defined.

What is indigo children?
Is it a common terminology in English speaking countries?

I have heard it mentioned on here before though, I think there is a thread about it somewhere.

However, I don't belive that the abilities described are limited to autistics, nor are they particularly common amongst that group, afaik.
Also, no one with any degree of that sort of thing that I've met has ever had an indigo aura, and none of them were autistic afaik.

Mine's greenish most of the time afaik.

I've always had a lot of psychic / spiritual / ESP experiences, so I'd probably be considered 'indigo'. (Which others might define as 'prone to hallucinations' – it's all in how you want to see it!)

I just read the Wiki entry, and I actually agree with the 'indigo' attitude toward ADHD, at least in my own case. My attitude is that it's okay to have intense focus on certain things, and a short attention span for other things, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it. We're told that it's 'bad', but there are many jobs where the ability to hyperfocus is an advantage.

Trying to behave as if I have a 'normal' level of focus is exhausting for me, and makes me miserable. (And I ultimately fail at it anyway, so what's the point?) But if I just allow myself to be true to my nature, I'm much happier, and far more productive.

A certain kind of children are supposidly being born with blue auras (or something) in this generation (or was it just in the Nineties- and now we have 'crystal children' now?- I cant keep track).

There are even books in the child rearing section of bookstores about "how to raise an indigo child".

After this Indigo child meme got started parents of HFA/aspie kids sorta latched onto the idea after the fact because indigo children are alleged to have a few similar personalty traits to aspies/auties.

So increasingly autistic and indigo have gotten equated in some circles.

No, the list of indigo traits is far too long. It's a barnum statement that could describe anyone.

Same with crystal children - kids with ADHD

Seems to me to be some people with over active imaginations wanted their quirky kids to be special and made up the notion of Indigo and crystal children. No your kids just have asd or adhd.

I am familiar with the term. It's a bogus concept that tries to re-categorize as "gifted" and "special" undisciplined children with poor grades and immature behaviors. It's about as scientific as the daily horoscope. Show me a spiritual person, and I'll show you someone who has worked very hard to acquire virtue. There are no New-Age short-cuts, people!
