You know your people skills probably aren't that bad at all. The number of "normal" people who don't have manners, aren't polite, and are poor communicators are astounding.

For example - social skills 101. If someone asks you to do something, and you don't want to do it - you communicate. You don't just ignore them.

Some "normal" people are seriously f*****g useless, so don't be so hard on yourself.

That's great advice. Thank you. :)

This reminds me of high school. Being weird socially is better than being a jerk socially. I was both though lol.

I think we tend to only focus on those who have the best social success and dismiss the rest.

This pretty much sums it up.

Some people's social skills are so useless, you'd rather be an aspie.

I tend to be hard on myself, blame myself for my failures and put myself down for not achieving those of my age group have achieved. I need to relax, though, because part of this is due to autism.

I work in the trucking business. You'd be overwhelmed with the terrible social skills some drivers have. :?

I am so incredibly hard on myself. I don't know if that is normal. I always want to be the best. I don't want to stand out, but at the same time I do.

I spent so many years trying so very hard to fit in socially! Learning about my Asperger's was a huge relief, in that it helped me give myself permission to be myself.

I have an acquaintance that is fond of the saying: "Don't judge your insides by other people's outside." Remembering that also sometimes helps me when I begin to feel less-than.

I've never really seen it framed in that way before :o I wish I heard this message years earlier than now. Would have helped greatly! Either way, thank you for sharing :)

Neurotypicals will s**t on us no matter what, so we might as well be kind to ourselves and each other.
