I've been recently diagnosed with Aspergers and it's making me reconsider a lot of my learning techniques. I'm currently at university, and I'm doing okay. But I often get the problem of I'm not quite sure how to learn, if that makes sense.

When I'm really interested in a subject I do research for ages and seem to absorb it really easily, but when it comes to prescribed learning I find it a little more difficult. I can find the stuff interesting but I find it hard to concentrate because I don't really know how to make it stick in my head. My short term memory is pretty poor, and I'm very visual, which is fine when you're revising, but when you're trying to digest three books to produce and essay it's not overly useful.

Does anyone else who suffers from these types of problems have any tips or advice on learning techniques?
(I am also really bad at organising my time independently, which is really great for an arts student with lots off free time...)

When I was in university I found I learned better in the labs (hands-on) and from the textbooks, than from the lectures listening to some professor drone on.

I also did my best work between 9 pm and midnight. I am not and have never been a morning person. :jester:
