:?: :?: :?:

I want to feel like I have more energy and feel happier. I have started taking caffeine pills and multivitamins and they have helped A LOT, I wake up happy now. :) I'm going on Amazon to look for vitamin B complexes and find the best option.

What are some sources of energy and happiness that work for you?

I'm interested in St. John's Wort and vitamin B complexes. I'm also interested in ginseng, (which I take) as well as Vitamin D (I have that covered by the multivitamin) and Omega 3. Do you take any of these or something else that improves your mood/energy?

And not only health stuff, but has anything spiritual helped your mood out? Praying helps me a lot (when I ask for joy).

:?: :?: :?:

I've been focussing recently on mind/body/spirit, and have taken up running. Outside, not in the gym. That makes me feel good, and as my running improves and I can run for longer periods I intend to combine running with meditation.

I go outside biking everyday for 30 minutes. It's healthy and gives you vitamin D from sunlight (unless it's a bad weather day :P ). It's also a nice way to clear your mind.

As strange as it sounds junkfood is also a source of happiness for me. It's so tasty and it gives me a happy energy boost, I never feel bad after it and my stomach feels content. Why can't healthy food be like this!

I know for me, exercise really makes me happy, but when I'm forced to do it, it stresses me out big time. When I was in Cross Country, the exercise did nothing positive for me except give me a temporary 4 pack of abs and tons of stress. (Both gone now). Do you guys take any "happy pills"? Another thing I think I'm going to buy is 5-HTP which creates serotonin in your brain and makes you happy. All of this is over the counter btw.

I'm such a nerd, people my age are smoking pot and crack with their friends to get happy and I'm just sitting here on Wrongplanet talking about caffeine and vitamin B lol.

merely eating healthy worked for the body, no supplements needed

added plenty of exercise and lately charity work - I tutor people and help in feeding the homeless

The politically involved thing... for me, being politically involved made me angry at people for believing things different than me, even when I didn't get to know them beforehand. I just quit reading the news because it was doing no good for me, I have noticed I don't judge people as much because of it, and political conversations go way smoother now that I don't have strong opinions on any of that stuff. Now I only go to the technology section of news websites, I don't even watch Keeping up with the Kardashian's anymore.

I used to go to McDonalds more than 3 days every week when I first learned how to drive and I started going to College. I felt like crap, every single day. It was awful and I just recently realized that on any day I don't eat at McDonalds I feel three times better, my stomach doesn't hurt either.

Because 'healthy' food is generally low calorie. We're genetically programmed to like high calorie foods because that has an evolutionary advantage, it's only in the context of the over abundance of modern society that this instinct became a liking for the 'unhealthy'. I see that as a good analogy for neurodiversity.

Not only is junk food generally high calorie, but it's engineered to appeal to our instinctual predilection for high calorie foods. What you get is a release of opiates (enkephalin and endorphin) that rewards you for behaviour that in the past would have enhanced your chances of survival when the inevitable famine came (which is why we store fat).

I used to drink beer but now I've stopped (thanks, Doc). Sometimes now, just to get the feeling of having a beverage in my hand, I drink water. I'm not sure if it's giving me peace of mind, but at least my body will thank me for it.

it is possible to rework this, unhealthy stuff actually not only sickens me to eat, just the smell bothers me

and eating right can fill you just remember you need a larger salad than you need a burger

Does anyone have advice for over the counter drugs that improve mood? I'm going to Wallgreen's today to buy 5-HTP right now (Safeway doesn't sell it for some reason).

My source of happiness is driving. I also find happiness when playing soccer. A really yummy meal makes me happy too, like a good steak. I'm a simple gal.

Having what I already have makes me happy. Praying, having my mom, cat, and support team...

Driving to my music playlist makes me super happy. I have figured out the perfect song to listen to for every specific mood I'm in. I have to listen to music quietly though or I don't enjoy it, my friends hate that because they like music loud.

Ya whenever I look back and understand that I've been given a lot already and my true needs are filled it's a good feeling.
