I told my mum and dad about being diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD, and mum responded well and understands now why I struggle with everything in life, and assume she probably knew there was always something up, and my dad responded with "I know you got ADHD". I questioned him on it and he said "you're like me, temper tantrum, red head" yes, when I was a kid, and now I get angry only at my dad because he's a bleep, and told him it's nothing to do with me being a red head, I legit have a thing I can't fix, only improve. The last time I got angry at anyone other than my dad was a convention in August because some random person came up to me when I was staring into space, swaying side to side to the music, telling me to cheer up. I told him he does not know me and he should bleep off.

I am nothing like my dad. Yeah maybe he's got ASD and ADHD too (he's not diagnosed with anything, just a clear anger problem), or maybe he's just a bleep, but I'm not like him. I'm a kind person, I have lots of friends (never really see them, but I do have plenty of friends), and I'm proactive in trying to help myself be a better person. I'm also not racist, not abusive, and I don't bully. I also pay money I owe to people and pay my bills, and my tax.
I'm not like him.

He can say I'm like him all he wants, just to make himself feel better, but I am not.

I'm just glad my mum at least understands. She said when I move out she'll help me out with things like cleaning, laundry etc. because I can't look after myself so well in that way.

Now I'm sat here trying to stop crying.

My mother basically does admit she always knew something was wrong with me, only that "she didn't know what it was and to what sort of doctor she could go about this" - to quote her. She now believes there IS something wrong with me that is a pervasive developmental disorder - last year we both had some health problems and the psysiotherapist we went to, said I was "an evident example of an adult with SI issues" so she couldn't ignore that. I read to her about some symptoms of PDD's and she had to admit there was indeed something about this. If only as a child and when I was young, I knew that those things I struggled with weren't my fault... :? I told her that throughout my whole childhood I just thought that "I was just f****d up all over".

wind,
the whole red head=raging crazy person is a very old ridiculous stereotype, just remember we have had worse than this-being burnt at the stake for being witches being one. :P
havent personaly heard it since a child but people will often say its our redheadedness why we can be explosive/ragey>we get pissed off at them and rage>they think that confirms their ridiculous idea that hair colour can cause neurology differences.
it isnt that red hair causes rageyness, its that they piss off every red haired person who comes within a fingers length of their overbearing ignorance.

My parents are both very naive, ignorant and hard to speak too. I have a feeling I will be experiencing the same thing, but maybe my dad and mom will be the opposite of yours. In order to explain myself I have to research and come up with a script that will explain all my issues in an accurate and understandable way. I am preparing months ahead, I hope I get the diagnosis. I am also a red head and I have heard it many time as well. It bothers me. Especially when I am walking with my son and people say "Ut oh, a red head, you must have your hands full".... peeves me off! He is actually the most kindest sweetest boy.

My dad thinks I am like him. He sounds a lot like your dad minus the taxes and bill paying thing. My dad has always supported me getting a new diagnosis because I was diagnosed with Bipolar as a kid and he never believed I had it.

I hope you are at least satisfied that they now know and I hope it brings closure to your life.

Kingdom I know it's a rubbish stereotype :) that's why I said to my dad is nothing to do with being a redhead. People have also had the logic that redheads are wild in bed. I'm not gonna go there but yeah...

I know this is a bit off topic, but your post reminded me of this.
In high school every time I walked into a certain class there was this girl who would say really loud "marybird is a carrot". then the whole class would laugh.
I couldn't figure out what was funny about it.
Just because my hair was sort of the color of a carrot, doesn't mean that I am a carrot.
It made absolutely no sense and so there was nothing funny about it, otherwise I would have been laughing too.
Instead I just sat there thinking about the absurdity of it.
So who are really the raging crazy people.
