Only got my P's last month so i'm still not 100% amazing or anything, but yeah i basically went to turn into a parking lot but i turned a bit too narrow and accidentally bumped the corner of the car in the next lot. I then panicked and had a bunch of anxiety attacks because i felt so stupid for what i did, now i'm probably going to have to park in parking lots again to regain confidence. Have you ever had an accident? How did you get passed it?

too many accidents  I seem to have similar proprioception deficits regarding the boundaries of my car, as I do with my body.

I have damaged my car twice, both times I scraped the wall in a parking garage while driving around the corner (I am blind in one eye and have virtually no depth perception). I've kind of learned that I just should not drive in a parking garage or other tight spots and avoid them if I can.

I have had a few. They can shake you up emotionally but don't stress too much. As long as you are okay and no one got hurt that is the most important thing. And if the car was damaged the insurance should kick in. But you'll be okay. Sometimes it takes a few days to get over the emotional trauma especially for us because we are so sensitive to that sort of thing. But I promise, you'll be fine. Keep practicing though and you will get better and more confident. You can practice a lot in empty parking lots and use plastic cones as pretend cars. That is how my dad taught me. It really helps.

Yeah there wasn't too much damage, just a dent in the corner of both our cars. It's more that i am just embarrassed and sensitive (like you said)

I already suffer from general anxiety.

Less than a month after I got my full license, I totalled my dad's Lexus. Thankfully no one got hurt and I haven't had any accidents (or even close calls) since then (over a year ago).

I have had lots of accidents. But none of them my fault. People turning into the side of my car. People rear ending me, while looking for something on the floor of their car.

Even the ones where I rear ended someone else, it was because they were doing something really dumb. Like being stopped in the middle of traffic, while trying to turn from the wrong lane, or suddenly stopping on the on-ramp, while I was accelerating behind them.

No matter how hard I try to avoid them crashing into me, they get me. :eye:

He was just really happy I was okay because the car got hit just in front of the driver's side door. If I had been even a little bit further out, it would've been hit directly on the driver's side door and I would probably have been killed.

Awww, I 'm glad that the damage was minimal. Here's a big hug. It'll be okay.

A few dents and scrapes, with stuff like that I just leave a note if the driver isn't there so that we can arrange the paperwork later. The last one was similar to your incident in the parking lot, I scraped the rear bumper of my neighbors Audi whilst I was leaving my parking spot. Rather than bother with the insurance paperwork I just told her to take the car to a dealer and get it fixed then I would pay the bill. Less hassle.

I've also had two major accidents, one where I fell asleep at the wheel and one where I got rear ended because the car behind was driving too close. I don't like tailgaters.

I'm glad you're OK.
I've had a couple.I've had one where a woman fell asleep at the wheel and ran up the back of me at lights and pushed me into the car in front. I got whiplash and a written off car.
The second I lost iin the wet coming down a sttep windy hill. Thanks to a guard rail I was OK. The guard rails on that stretch of road would have a few tales to tell.

I'm not the worlds best at parking either , especially in tight parking lots. Just practice in empty lots, or on quiet days, and if you have to take 3 goes to get it right that's what you have to do.

I've gotten into a few accidents; EVERYBODY has gotten into a few accidents. I was shaken by them each time. I'm glad the damage was minimal in your case.

I've been driving for over 26 years and have been in 3 not at fault accidents. one accident that happen about 17 years ago, an 86 year old woman pulled out in front of me in an intersection. I was driving a pick-up truck going 60 mph and broad sided her car. after hitting her car. I did multiple 360' spins down the road and the tires where smoking. both the woman's car and the truck(which I didn't own.) where both totaled and the woman was paralyzed from the wast down. I came out unhurt but it was the most scary experience I had ever had and I never drove for over 2 month because of the trauma of that accident.

Let me tell you guys something. fender benders are nothing compared to feeling the impact of a high speed collision. you'll never forget it.

I drive only when I absolutely have to drive, otherwise I stay home. nominally safer that way.
