I love numbers. I love reading my odometer and seeing patterns in the numbers. I like looking at license plate numbers. I can make any string of numbers form some pattern (within reason). I like numbers very much.

This post will be for me post #1685. And...

1685 was the year in which my composer friend Johann Sebastian Bach was born.

So I had to start a new thread to celebrate, and also because I would love to hear about your relationship with numbers, too.

I like them, I'm a little obsessed with timelines actually. I once tried to create a language out of numbers, when that didn't work so well I tried to create a math system out of letters. It was fun anyway.

Glad I'm not the only one!

Speaking of patterns, anybody else obsessed with patterns in tile or flooring? Like forming different shapes of squares and triangles?

I have had a lifelong obsession with numbers. To the point that my OCD centres around counting.

I like prime numbers the most.

I also like the powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16 etc) and have learnt then up to 1,073,741,824.

I like patterns in numbers and I have always been talented in maths.

I always try to make strings of numbers I see add up to either 3, 6, or 9. Like right now it is 8:37 AM. 8 + 3 + 7 = 18, 1 + 8 = 9. It's more of a compulsion than something I find fun to do though, and it can be distracting and annoying, particularly when the numbers are ticking up or ticking down, because then I find them hard to ignore. It's especially tough if the clock displays the number of seconds, because then I find myself making the time add up dozens of times a minute rather than just once. I've done this since I was a little kid. I was told that it's not OCD, but rather a stress/anxiety coping mechanism.

Did you know that there is always at least one prime number between n and 2n?

I tend to remember random dates and things associated with them. Today i was reading something about movie stars and music artists who released works posthumously. Well i noticed tupoc shakur was shot on september 13, 1996. I then remembered that was the same exact date a friend of mine put his 88 oldsmobile calais into a ditch after hitting a deer. I also remember i was supposed to be in the car with him but some people i rode home from school with got busted shoplifting and i didn't get home till after he stopped by and he went to another friend's house so i drove over there in my dad's car and we later headed back to my place and for some reason he took a different road than i did and hit the deer. I don't know why i'm remembering all of this as i type it here but i just am..
I can actually picture in my mind the events of that day and the day after when i went i to the ditch with another friend (the one who's house we were at) to look for evidence of the deer since my friend's parents didn't believe him when he said there was a deer. We actually found oldsmobile headlight glass with deer hair embedded in it. CSI before CSI was the in thing on tv lol.

havent got a relationship with them at all though that isnt through choice, am unable to recognise or understand numbers but can use them by going to google typing the spelling of it out [say like if wanted to use the previous xbox title] and copying and pasting the result.

I have learned many digits of Pi, more than a thousand, but that is it.
I cannot work with numbers, as I am visually thinking and to do math one needs working memory and I do not have a good one, I see the numbers but I do not see the concepts to work with them.
I do look at number plates, and I recognize for example when family is coming for a visit them by the number plate of their car due to face blindness, so I have remembered all their number plates.

This thread hasn't had legs for a while but I started it as my post #1685, the year in which my composer friend Johann Sebastian Bach was born.

So this is post #1750, the year in which Bach died. So I had to memorialize the numerical convergence by writing another post. 8)

I like numbers. My favorites are 0, because of some of it's strange properties and also any palindrome because they just feel right and good somehow.
