Hi everyone, went for my first appointment with local mental health team last Thursday. She gave me a general psychiatric screening assessment, and asked me why I thought I was autistic, and difficulties I have etc.
At the end of the appointment she decided that I would be put forward for an autism assessment, and so I am now on a 2 year long waiting list.

She also thought that I would benefit from attending some CBT-based personal development classes (assertiveness, and managing emotions and relationships, and maybe some others) which run one at a time for 8-10 weeks, and are run by a charitable organisation called MIND.

Just wondered if anyone has any experience with this MIND organisation, good or bad? And if anyone has experienced or been offered any similar types of classes?

I don't have any personal experience with MIND, though I have heard good things about them. I am currently in the middle of a CBT course focussing on self-esteem, however, and am finding it quite good. The structure is quite amenable to those of us with a love of the concrete/structured.

A two year waiting list sounds horrendous, incidentally.
