It's been suggested to me many times that I should have a job in something like quality control, because I can spot tiny flaws or mistakes that other people miss. On the other hand, I can ALSO miss things that are obvious to other people, so I'm not sure that would be the best job for me. lol
This isn't exactly the same thing, but I have a particular talent for merchandising. I can look at a product set in a store, analyze the size/shape of each product, shelf depth etc. and rearrange the entire set pretty quickly to make it more pleasing to the eye and/or make space for more products.
Some people are just good at finding anomalies, not necessarily in a spatial pattern, this could lend itself well to working with data, computer programming, or scientific research.
