hi when i was young i used to stim a lot more than i do now. for example

i bit more things, i hit my head on walls, id hum, id press on my eyes, id fall on purpose, roll and spin,

now i just bite on my arms, press my eyes and sway back and forth.

what are your old Stims as a child

I used to do two things at once, and try not to let anyone see me do it (not many noticed anyways). Like tap my heel, and my thumb on my knee at the same time. Usually always doing a leg tap of somekind, and something with my hands and fingers. I got away from painful stims at about 5. I still do too. And I'm 43. I was made to go to a strip club for a bachelor party not long ago. It was more uncomfortable than it was exciting. I was stimming like a 15 year old.

Biting my arms. Now that I think about it I also hummed as a consumed food.

Chewing on my shirts. Banging stuff, like i used get something like a wooden spoon and start wailing away on my legos with it unaware of how much noise i was making. going around and touching and sniffing everything I could get my hands on. Making loud repetitive sounds like an engine revving RRRRrrr!... RRRRrrr!... RRRRrrr!

Chewing on shirts. In a ton of my childhood photos I had a big wet stain around my collar from chewing on my shirt. I would go through shirts constantly because I put holes in them with my teeth.

Most of the ones I did when I was a child I still do know. But I used to spin round and round and round, I don't do that so much anymore nor do I chew my t shirts so much but that's because I have some of those chewy tube/chew buddy things.

My heavens, I never thought of shirt chewing as a stim... I don't do it anymore, but now that you guys mention it I know I did as a child. 0_o

Wow, I had forgotten how I used to chew on shirts!

I used to get down on my hands and knees and crawl around the toy car rug with my forehead on the rug's road. I also used to pick at my face a lot. But most stims that I used to do, I still do. I rub my hands together, clack my teeth incessantly to "create" percussion when I have a song in my head, and, due to sensory deals, I rub my face, pull at hair, and pop my knuckles. I also pace a lot, and probably do a lot of other things that I'm not thinking of right now.

Yeah, I'm beginning to realize that stims are a more prominent part of my life than I originally thought...

Apparently some of this stuff is not really a stim?

Is that a question or an assumption? What does it even mean? It would help if you ended your statements in periods instead of in question marks.

There is a recent post with a video. It is usually rocking, spinning, or swaying the whole body. Moving around hands, and arms, or staring into stuff I guess.

And they have the experience or logical deduction needed to say that rocking is a stim but rubbing hands together is not a stim?

Apparently it is more of an anxiety, or nervous thing. Just like everyone else chews their nails, or taps a pen, or whatever.

I do stare into space and stuff alot. People ask me what I'm looking at? Nothing?
