I am at my wits end! I do NOT mind neighbors having a party every now and then or a dog barking every now and then, but this is insane. My alarm clock is the neighbor's dog crying/barking in the morning every freaking day! The administration will do NOTHING. I feel like there is no place I can live without going crazy with neighbors. No, I do NOT complain about all neighbors. I understand that sometimes you don't pick up after yourself, sometimes you have company over, etc…I get it. But this is ridiculous.

So today, while searching the internet for how to deal with these morons, I came up with my plan. I changed my WIFI signal name. My ahole neighbor obviously NEVER takes out his trash, or maybe just once a month…When I open my front door the gnats come flying into my apartment as his door is less than 2 feet away from mine and FULL of gnats because of trash he has there. The administration does NOTHING about it, although I can freaking smell the citrus peels for days, weeks and then ugh! So I changed my wife signal to "takeoutyourfkingtrashoutsickofgnats"…From now on, this is what I will do. I know they will see the freaking WIFI connection, as everytime I sign into mine and check connections (they go up down all the time here), I see everyone else's. Just thought I'd pass it along. :-)

If he's got so much trash in his apartment that it's causing bugs then the apartment manager is legally responsible to do something about it. If you can't get them to do something about the trash, then call the health department. They can steer you in the right direction because it's a matter of public health. They will get somebody out there on it. If you still cant get help with it, call the local tv news station. Lots of times they do stories about things like that when people have trouble getting help for something and they have gone through the proper channels.

Also, if your manager won't fix it, what about the owner of the building?

Unfortunately I live outside the US and the government, news, etc. does nothing. The view here is that people have a right to do whatever they please in their own apartment/house…and if that affects others, tough…ugh! Yes, I know, I will soon go insane here, but not much I can do at this point because I lost my job and my husband's job is here. :-(

The you might have to go through the manager/owner of the building.is the trash in the appartment,if so you can maybe stress the fact that it can be infesting it or causing damage to it.they hate that (most of the time).maybe withholding rent till the problem is at least adressed but that can be scetchy.they do have the right to do as they please but you also have the right not have to deal with it

Edit/addition:we have neighbours who have a few kids who when playing tend to yell/play verry loudly then its compounded by the parents yelling at them from the balcony because there too lazy to go talk to them face to face.

The wifi thing made me laugh

You'd have to make pressure if the owner doesn't do anything, though I can't really tell you how, I never dealt with house owners, although often I have heard that forcing them in a way or another is the only way to get them to do something.

Talking about noisy neighbours, sometimes it's our direct neighbour, but luckily not too often.
But they surely take their time mowing their grass or doing any other kinds of noisy work - often early in the morning on weekends when you want to sleep a bit longer and going throughout half of the day. We've also had enough stress with those next door neighbours already due to some incidents and their nasty human nature.
The main source of annoyance of the past months is someone else though.

You should know, at the end of the street we live at is a very friendly person with a nice, quiet car - NOT.
It's a tuned BMW sportscar with an engine as noisy as a lawn mower right next to your ear - just with MUCH more bass. And of course, he can't just start his engine without going "WROOM WROOM" first for more than 10 seconds.
Last time he started his car at 2AM. That came unexpected, I can tell you! That moment I wished my window was closed, but it wasn't and it made me jump. Currently, he is the most annoying one in a radius of 1km.
How are such loud cars even legal!? :x

Yehhhhhhhhh I have a housemate with an incredibly deep voice. Everytime he goes into the kitchen/toilet he raps to himself in this awful nasal baritone - its hell and it triggers my misophonia. He's in the kitchen now doing it at 1:33. Headphones are fine but everytime a track changes or the overall dyanmic level descends beneath a certain level I can hear it

Then theres my stoner housemate who sleeps all day then gets up and talks on the phone all evening.

I would move but theres no point as wherever I live i'll have these issues.

Well, I am sitting up working now (in the very early am hours here) wearing earplugs because only this hour at night is it quiet enough for me to concentrate.

Noisy neighbours are hell indeed, and that story about the rapping flatmate sounds like a nightmare. That said, I have super sensitive hearing and even the slightest white noise bothers me.

My parents have this fancy new industrial-looking refrigerator which is their pride and joy. A while back when I house sat for them over a weekend I could not be in the open plan living area because the fans in that fridge gave off some faint pitchy sound that drove me crazy. Needless to say, I was unimpressed with the fancy unit, but apparently I am the only person who hears it. I have always been like that, which is probably why speak too softly as well and am always told to speak up.

That is what I hate about Misophonia. It follows you everywhere., You would have to away from any contact with people in order to be comfortable.

Precisely. The violence it engenders is pretty bad too. The murderous rages. I end up feeling guilt because im contemplating committing a crime of aurally induced passion. Headphones are great but there are times when my phone is dead and my computer is glitching out. VERY VERY DIFFICULT!! !

I have long passed the feelings of guilt with my homicidal thoughts about the people who pull my Misophonic triggers all day long. Fortunately for all of us I am a very gentle person and even though I have had terrible thoughts of rage towards others I could not ever hurt someone even out of Misophonic rage. I have had to stop myself from hurting myself though. That is what I am most of afraid of is that one day it will be too much and I will snap and hurt myself dramatically just to stop the trigger noises.

I know this is annoying, but I have worse issues, my father has been feuding with my neighbor for 8 years.

I hate noisy neighbors. My old Chinese recluse neighbor will randomly watch loud ass movies with his subwoofers turned up at 2 am.

I could not deal with that at all.

Good idea to move imo.

its just not viable to live near somewhere where there is constant noise.

luckily here its most older people, and they never make noise, and that is pretty lucky, because this old crappy 80-90 year old apartment is about as well insulated as a sock. If my neighbors cough or sneeze i can hear it. I guess it wasnt a big priority back in the 1920's

Problem for me is noise just drains my energy, and as my mental energy drains well lets just say, i dont become a more nice person to be around, when im energy starved i get agitated, get tics, in general lose control if it gets bad enough, a few times in my life ive had a fight with a brick wall, leading to a broken hand. Its kinda scary actually when mental energy gets that low and to get like that.

And im definitely not a violent person or anything.
