Do any of you have things that you do to keep your memory sharp, or improve it, etc...? Do you know of any GOOD books? I just want to do what I can to be consistently 100%!

Oh well, a lot of people here have discussed this in one way or another. Based on what I heard about how YOU guys remember, etc... I would say I USED to be a 9(10 being best), and today am between 7 and 8. I would LOVE to get to a 10, but am trying to get back to 9. It is crazy because it is almost like seeing a picture out of focus, and I just want some glasses!

My EVENT memory is just TOO good. Just yesterday I compared a couple series and someone remarked "HOW CAN YOU REMEMBER ALL THAT STUFF!"!

My LONGTERM memory is OK. If I remember something a few weeks, I may remember it a few DECADES.

My SHORTTERM memory is ok. I guess my problem is it isn't as big as I would like, and a little too slow to get to the longterm.

Anyway, it seems like so many memory books talk about the same little tricks, etc... I just looked at one that claimed some of my goals were IMPOSSIBLE, even though it is no more than I had. It ALSO claimed that things I can do can't be done. I figure if they sy it isn't possible, they can't help me.

Steve

I consider myself to be a 10.

SO, were you ALWAYS like that? What do you do to keep in top form? BTW 10 which would be FULL ON eidetic memory is beyond even what the last book I read said was impossible, of course it DID say specifically that it was impossible. MANY claim it is. I DO have some eidetic memories still, and there are times when it seems to come easy. The last time for me was a couple weeks ago for like 5 hours in the morning. 8-( I would consider just learning run of the mill stuff like a computer to be a 9. 8 would be slower and maybe need a bit of repitition, which is where I am at. That is sad since my event memory can be close to full eidetic.

My goal isn't to brag, but to try to improve, and maybe help others.

Steve

My memory is terrible, I have to write everything down that I want to remember. I think it's because I'm always thinking about other, non-practical stuff. My head is too full of...stuff.

I have an excellent memory for concepts or pretty much anything that can be mentally retrieved by association, but if you ask me what I had for lunch I may not be able to answer until I've spent a couple of minutes retracing my steps.

I've seen a few about memory and how to improve it, plus other mind related books by Tony Buzan. I've not read them myself but a friend says they're very good.

Alright, I get to suggest "Meditation," again, as it helps memory :)

I have a much better long-term memory. My short-term memory is wrecked. It's just no good whatsoever.

I can clearly remember things I did in 1977, when I was 5. But I can't remember where I sat my keys down just 10 minutes ago.

I have started reading books again recently, as well as reading science journals and writing poetry to keep my mind going.

This is how I kinda felt and it made me miserable, hence the reading and stuff again. However, I realise I have been isolating myself from others more in doing this, I find it hard to mix the two. I'm either social and brain dead or sharp and witty with no one to share that with

I get this a lot. I seem to be able to remember stuff that's happened no matter how far back it was, or how insignificant it was at the time, I will remember it.

My long term memory is very good, I think that's why my event memory is honed to perfection :)

Mine has been rubbish recently, I can get very forgetful as a result of this. Hence by reading and stuff, hopefully this will train my mind to work better in every department as my short term memory used to be, well, better.

I never really pay any attention to memory books, especially if they claim some goals are impossible. They may be impossible for some but not for others, everyone is different.
