I have a long-term pun obsession. My kids call it 'dad humour' and consider it normal, but it obviously isn't!

Is this a common thing with Aspergers?

I absolutely LOVE puns.

i would think puns are supposed to be one of those things we're not supposed to get, and some may not. but i love puns and catch on to them pretty good as long as they're not too abstract.

Geology Rocks! also, because I rock back and forth as a stim, Autistics Rock!

Earthquakes aren't gneiss, but they're no one's fault (gneiss is a metamorphic rock)

Be Gneiss Ore Albite ya! (Albite=a mineral)

Life is tuff, take nothing for granite. (tuff is a volcanic rock)

Don't worry about that piece of schist (a metamorphic rock)

Let me get a Pikachu in your new dress!

I'm not gonna Raichu a love song

Why don't you come with me little girl, on a Magicarp -et ride

I Machamp!

BONUS: What do you call the sound of a mine shaft collapsing? A-flat minor.

I get into puns. Moreso that i usually get a pun definition of what someone is saying then i have to think of the intended meaning of what they are trying to say.

I've always loved puns. There was a time when I was playing in a band, and I would make puns about everything, even by accident! I could never understand why they first laughed and then got mad, saying my jokes were too dry.

From what I posted on the musical jokes thread:

A buddy of mine is an organist (he just finished his doctoral studies on that instrument at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. These are his worst puns)

Think positif!

Oh, great!

That's just Swell!

(He also was a source of Helen Keller and dead baby jokes.)

I always liked puns too (even if they are really lame.) Whenever I'm watching a movie or something, my dad and I always come up with a bunch of punny alternate titles for it before we start watching. :)

I like puns but I like other kinds of word play better, like rhyme and alliteration. My dad loves puns and makes them all the time.

I've read that a love of wordplay is common in Asperger's, but I'm not sure about other forms of autism.

I definitely love puns.

I have always loved word play. James Bond does them all the time.

I like to do puns. maybe a little too much. When someone comments about my puns. I say, what's the matter, can't take the "punishment".

Sounds like your organist buddy is really "pulling all the stops out" on this one, I hope he know how to play chords or that could be a major problem. I wonder if he's an organ donor?
