Ages since I made this kind of post but my dad brought it up once again. Said "it's not healthy." I like doing running commentary to the news. IMO it's funny and uplifting vs. BOO! Depression! Example: F1 tornado hit house in FL. Me: to myself (uh ya they better be glad it wasn't an F4 or F5 like tornado alley get sheesh!) (it's bad WP yes but running commentary or looking at the positive in some small way is something I enjoy.)

I do talk to myself, especially when I am engaged deeply in something.
I also think out loud.

Though to be fair my grandmother constantly vents out loud over everything.

Sadly "It's not healthy" and once when I had a special interest in The Dragon Tattoo book series I just HAD to finish it OCD Aspie interest! (couple summers ago). I just read it non stop. Apparently according to my mom "stop it that's not normal."

:-(

I talk to myself a lot, especially when I'm embarrassed or nervous. Sometimes I say things like "I don't like you" even if I'm not really talking about anyone. When I'm reading a book, I also sometimes read a line out loud when I'm distracted and trying to focus on taking in the words.

I do, especially when I am working on something, I will even ask myself questions out loud. It seems to help my thinking process and feels natural.

Generally not too much. I used to do it more.

If I'm trying to straighten an idea in my mind and it gets worse when I'm upset.

Very seldom compared to in the past.

It is an aspie trait, though.

It's quite well described in the book "Aspergers from the inside out," when the author writes about going on long walks and talking to himself. I totally used to do that a fair bit. I still do it a little bit, but nowhere near as much as I used to.

Yep I do quite a lot.

There's no reason to feel bad about something that is considered to "not be normal" unless it is harming other people. It's a perfectly harmless activity!

Also, I like to recite (in my mind) various words in alphabetical order when in bed, to help me fall asleep.

I do from time to time. I find it odd somewhat.
